Caucus

My caucus last night lined up almost perfectly with the overall Texas caucus results I've seen: 58% Obama, 42% Clinton. I was so proud to cast my ballot yesterday morning, and even prouder to sign my name at the caucus and write "Barack Obama" next to it. I'm sad that Texas went to Clinton. :( Any analysis there on why that happened? I haven't heard anything here. It just looked *so* promising for Obama.

For my own reference, here is my reply via e-mail:
Nope, Obama won Vermont and the Texas caucus, Hillary won two states and the Texas primary. Texas has a REALLY strange way of dividing votes: first we vote in the primary, and that decides 2/3 of the delegates; then those who voted go back to the caucus and that decides the othe 1/3. Obama beat her overall in the delegate count in Texas because the primary was so close, but he won the caucus by a large margin. It's complicated. I wouldn't say he won Texas as he didn't carry the popular vote, but he did win the delegates that matter to the party.
