When we see clips of Iranian soldiers marching down the street, chaotic street scenes from Baghdad, and Muslim children carrying guns, you have to wonder how the media on the other side of the world portrays America. Would they pick: A) A constructive conference on how to better the country(CSPAN?) or B) The last KKK march. In this century, the most efficient way to spew information(if you can call it that) to the public is to put a negative spin on it because presenting it objectively is too complex a thing to condense into a news ticker. Negative news is also the most likely to ensure the continuation of news because while positive things usually have an objective like fixing 'x' problem, people reacting to a 'x' is something someone else is bound to react to. This is why people are still beating the dead horse over the Ayers issue or McCain's similarity to Bush.
If Ron Paul had been given the same treatment in the media as the other candidates, this presidential election would be even more split than it is now.
Negative campaigning is easier for them, I'll agree with you on that, but it doesn't mean it pisses me hell out of me any less. Though bringing up the world's image of America reminds me of when I was in Switzerland 4-5 years ago, on the anniversary of our invasion of Iraq. They showed protests in about every major city of the world against the war. Those protests never even made it to the airwaves in the U.S.
And I agree about Ron Paul, but under our current electoral system a third party candidate will never get elected.
The third party bit is kind of sad. Theres too much money vested into the two party system to change it. There has to be a special "Third Party Presidential Debate" (allegedly) because the actual presidential debate is only for elepahnts and donkeys.
I've heard about the reactions in Europe to Iraq, this is true.
And on a side note, Barack Obana closley shares some of the traits the new testament's book of revelations describes the antichrist to have. These being his quick ascention to political power worldwide, that circumstances of his presidency like his ethnicity vs. American culture and his wide suppourt in the media make him hard to oppose, his subjectivity to assasination attempts, and his position on Israel. The material in there coupled with the current economic situation and the whole 2012 Mayan calender dillio make for an interesting statement. It would have made a great McCain add.
