Time to brush the dust off of this livejournal again...
Currently I'm recovering from being sick. I don't have a fever anymore, but I'm still a giant phlegm-ball and I have a headache (but that has more to do with the fact that Dad's sealing our knew flooring, and the fumes are really irritating me). Yesterday my fever was well over 100, and that had a lot to do with a soccer game vs. Lake Worth. The final score was 2-2, but it SHOULD have been 3-0, not only because WE'RE the better team, but because the refs managed to screw it up THAT much. The first goal that Lake Worth "scored," the girl kicked it out of our goaly's hands; the second one was scored after a handball was involved. And they took away one of our goals because evidently Ariella cursed under her breath to herself, and one of the refs heard it and thought it was directed at her, so the goal got taken away and Ariella got carded (which is actually slightly humorous, but it wasn't at the time). Back to being sick: I wasn't feeling too bad until yesterday. Saturday is when I started feeling symptoms, and I think the entire reason I GOT sick was because my immune system was compromised due to the fact that I donated blood on Friday. I didn't have a very nice donation, despite how I tried to hydrate the day before and eat enough the day of. During the process, I was absolutely fine until the last 2 minutes or so, when I started feeling dizzy (just like last time). It didn't really improve after I finished.. in fact, I ended up throwing up while I was still on the bus. But it was very nice, they had a bio-bag and everything so it was probably the most clean barf I've ever had. After that whole ordeal, I went to 6th hour, then had to go to band rehearsal (fun when you're missing a pint of blood), then off to Chipotle for dinner, then back to school for the game (still feeling weak). Kelcey and her mom came down for the weekend and were at the game. I hadn't seen her since... July? So that was nice. We watched 27 Dresses on Saturday, which actually exceeded my expectations for a chick-flick. They left Sunday morning.
So because I was feeling so shitty post-game, I stayed at home for 1st, 2nd, and 4th hours. It's actually a bit concerning, how many absences I have right now.... I've accumulated so many, between being sick, canvassing for Obama, going on college-touring trips, mental health days, that I'm getting close to my 10/semester max for several of the classes. Good thing the semester ends soon...
Recent school updates: Morone Sr. is probably my favorite teacher; I officially hate TOK and Zap's a complete !%?#, she gave me a SIX/TWENTY on my presentation which was pretty much unwarranted (I'm not an F student...); Band class is just plain awful. I can't stand our director. He said we're doing RUN-THROUGHS for the rest of the semester. Umm... sorry? We're not going to improve if all we're doing is pretending we can play music that we CAN'T. This is ENTIRELY a demonstration of how poor a band director he is. It's like he's saying that we've already done everything we need to with musicality, interpretation, etc. when in fact, all that HE'S actually done is to go through notes and rhythms. I swear, I'VE taught my section more than he has since the year started, given all of the time we've had in sectionals...
Then Calculus, which I switched into a while ago but which has been so relieving. I literally haven't studied or done homework at ALL in the past month or so. And last time I checked, my grade was a 99 or something. Furthermore, I don't feel like a failure for dropping out of Calc HL; I just feel like I saved myself unnecessary stress. Ierace's class, I've been doing the bare minimum for studying and I have an A. I need to do my IA over winter break because I'm going to Tri-State band the weekend before it's due (which should be lots of fun, I'm really looking forward to that). And then Physics!!! I have a 98 PERCENT in the class!!! And we've actually had a test this quarter, which is amazing. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up even after the test on Waves next Monday.
In other news, marching season is finally over (thank god). I wouldn't have hated it so much towards the end if "the best band director in the world" hadn't been throwing band rehearsals at us AFTER FBA... so stupid.
On a lighter note, I got into All State this year (band of the "best" band students in Florida), which is pretty sweet. So my Winter Break consists of thus: vacation from Dec. 20th - Jan. 5th. I go to school on the 6th. Then I'm at All-State from the 7th-9th, add the weekend after of the 10th and 11th. My winter break is 3 weeks, almost a month long...
And that's all I care to talk about right now. See you in December or 2009 or something!
