I was going to make a post last week, but I didn't really feel like posting it after I had written it. So I guess I'm going to post about this weekend instead of last weekend.

Friday afternoon marked the second time in a week I got asked out. Bit of a confidence booster :P But I'm kinda... taken? Something's going on with someone else, at any rate :). Didn't get home until 4:30 because we had to take the bus @_@. Mom is finally home; she had been gone for a month. She's different now, and while she's more.. together now than she was, she seems to be unhappier.. I feel asleep from like 6-10 and then got back up to eat dinner and shower, hah.

Saturday 12-4 was gumbo limbo. Ended up having to work the front desk because we were short on volunteers. But I ended up meeting some kid who plays for Olympic varsity. I think we originally started talking because some hispanic people walked in and he started speaking to them in spanish. And I could UNDERSTAND everything, but I just can't switch languages fast enough to SPEAK coherently in spanish, so he just spoke in spanish and I spoke english to them. Evidently he lived in Peru until 6 years ago (hence the soccer playing :P).

Jessica's party was later that night. It was basically just dancing the entire night, but I had a ton of fun with that. Ended up dancing with a couple of people, like Alberto when they played Suavemente (me being my true gringa self), and some random black kid whose name I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to learn [edit: mystery is solved, his name is Xavier]. I think he might be a sophomore. Fun stuff :)

This morning was church. The rehearsal went pretty awfully for me because I kept getting lost in the music and so I just didn't play for a lot of it. It went a lot better in the actual performance though; I don't think I got lost the entire time, and I got complimented a bunch again. Evidently they really like the depth that having a horn adds to the sound. I happen to like the way a horn sounds very much myself :P So much so that I practiced for over an hour and a half when I got home. The new mouthpiece I got for Christmas makes my tone a lot richer and prettier and I have something that sounds vaguely like a vibrato going. But I REALLY hate how easily I get blown out these days.

I decided I want to buy some Latin music. And I also decided that my goal in life is to be able to speak spanish and dance to Lain music without anything to distinguish me from any other hispanic person (except for my hair and skin, of course). Alberto told me he would help me work on the dancing (as well as my empanada-crafting. oh, how i love empanadas).
