So after putting it off, I finally went and saw "I am Number 4" and I gotta say, I was pretty...disappointed.
It started out real promising with instant action right at the start. It then segue into the main character's story and then...it didn't go the way I thought it would. I'm glad I only paid a dollar to watch it because it got dull pretty fast.
There was no major action until last 20-30 minutes and even then, he wasn't that great. Number 6 (the girl) was pretty kickass in her scenes compared to him.
I think the problem was that instead of focusing on Number 4 and his fight with those who are after him, it's pretty much about him falling in love and not wanting anything to do with the ones coming after him until something dire happens coughsomeonediescough. They should have put the love story in the background or least on the back burner until Number 4 has some time to mature. And no, I'm not hatin' on the love. It's just that the way this love plot was formed/carried out was sooo dreary and cliche. Number 4 should have at least have some character development, but I guess since he's a supposed high school student, it's too much to ask.
Instead, I'm more interested in Number 6 and how she came to be. They should have written a story about that and explore the character a bit more. Plus, how come Number 3 is younger than Number 4 and 6? And when exploring a dark, potentially dangerous place, wouldn't it be better to use a flashlight instead of your superpower to avoid being found out as not human?
Ah, the tragedies of Hollywood...
