i saw someone yesterday that i have not seen in years. reminded me why i like this "town". it's amazing to me that you can live in a city that is as massive as this and still see people you know EVERYWHERE you go

girls who knew you way back when always thought you were cute but just a little too much of a friend to really be "interested in you in that way"... you make for a great lifelong friend to many people - and yes one day the girl will find you... she will. it's just a fact that all guys like you end up completely happy and in love for the rest of your lives... meanwhile the GIRLS who are the replicas of you will be lonely and miserable for the rest of our (that is to say their) lives.

It would be awesome if there were prizes in the contest to see who is more depressed about their prospects. :D

It's probably not as bad as either of us think, but it's difficult to be objective about these things because in the face of unrewarded hope you think you ARE being objective-- evidence suggests that the things you tell yourself to bring you down are true. It's not out of a desire to punish oneself, but to protect oneself. It's safe to stay tied down, to not get caught in the wind.

And then sometimes you just make bad decisions to get them out of the way; I'm likely pouring my heart out to a (particular!) girl today just so I don't have to worry about it anymore, and I have been worried about it.

well she will either be completely flattered and jump your bones or she will be completely flattered and pretend to be too cool for you when in fact we all know she isn't.
