can you call the captain clitus?

It was almost exactly a year ago that aliste and I first saw Sufjan Stevens at the Metro on his Illinoise tour, and yesterday night he returned to Chicago to play at the Riviera. He was ostensibly supporting his new album, The Avalanche, but it was a general concert without a specific album-theme, as most of his previous concerts have been.

Really? Not one from the latest? Wow. I (like a lot of the folks, I bet) only have "Illinoise", so I figured at least a few of the other songs were from the latest. Strange!

*G* Have I have a great pic for you - *L*!

Thanks for this. You always give such great, visual (and aural) recaps. The quote we always heard in school was "writing about music is like dancing about architecture", but you pull it off pretty well.
Glad to hear you were not crushed; I sympathise with aliste as I've had the grating-voiced - and drunk! - girl next to me at more than one show. Gah.

Aw, thanks! I guess it helps that I write more about the event than the music itself. :) Glad other people than me get pleasure out of it, though.

BTW, speaking of grating voices... what was with the people shouting out stuff down on the floor? Was it in good fun... or just people seeking attention?

Eh, just being annoying. :P You know, people just can't help but try to open up a dialogue, unfortunately.
