Of interest?

I've just gotten myself a copy of 'The Anthony Roll' from the Mary Rose Trust (Amazon price 76 quid, Mary Rose price 20 quid+P&P). Rather nice book, tho' certainly not worth 76 quid (more than the archaeology books!). It has 1/2 of a page reproductions (about 65% of original size) of the illustrations of the original roll, and these might be of ( Read more... )

They've e-mailed back to say they don't want it back, so it's yours. Also interesting are depictions of ships with figureheads (Unicorn and Salamander), and depictions of crew (Galley Subtile)

And lots and lots of depictions of flags, banners and heralding hoardings. With enough of a suggestion based on how they look to work out how they were flown.

Well, I'd agree they're certainly fiddlier, but some of the fine penmanship is surely of interest? (To say nothing of lots of fine pictures of shiiiiips!)
