That's me - mouse defender extraordinaire! I hate the way cats play with their prey. Dogs just either ignore things or chomp it straightaway. I can cope with that...
Now that's the sort of nighttime adventures that I like! :D Seriously, good for you for saving the mouse. I'd have loved to see Mr. Fox looking puzzled. Perhaps he was your lady's love. Is she still around?
And as I made my way back into the house, conscious that I was actually standing in public in an indecently short nightie, covered only by a thin dressing gown, I noticed I was being watched by a fox - sitting casually on the pavement outside my house with head tilted in puzzlement. Not my foxy lady though - this was a boy, by the size of him.
And the fox was thinking "Why is she dressed like that".
I'm sure he was... at least this time I remembered to put the dressing gown on, unlike the time I probably flashed half the road when hobbitbeagle got out into the street one morning!
Well done on saving the mouse. I used to save them when I had an outdoor cat who used to bring them inside alive. Mr Fox must have been intrigued, and any neighbours who *might* have been looking out. You could be getting a reputation ;-)
Hee... not as much as I had in my old house! Hobbitbeagle got out one morning, not long after I got her. I went tearing down the road in nothing but my teeshirt nightie after her - and I'm sure I flashed the world as I picked her up!

So I'm trying to avoid getting attached to this one now *grins* He seems very tame, which is definitely NOT OF THE GOOD.
