Funny, I just reread the end of the post, and it seems to be speaking to me now, about my chosen topic for this year's Nano. We make stories to speak to things we need. While mine is a faery changeling story, I expect a lot of things to surface about the time when my children were really stolen, by the state, and I was working to get them back.
