Yay! The unconstituitional assault weapon's ban is gone! I noticed something today reading the editorials. Virtually everyone celebrating the ban talked about how the ban didn't affect crime, how it was poorly worded, and how it used the term "assault weapon" to scare people. The weapons banned were no more dangerous than any hunting rifle. ( Read more... )

I believe in statistics as much as unicorns do, but that's not the point. Crime goes up or down depending on the level of desperation, not the size of the gun. I don't know why anybody would keep dangerous weapons at home, but hey, it's your home, shoot yourself in the foot if you want.

But I think Kerry and other people have a good point when they say that lifting the ban would make it easier for terrorists to get their grubby little paws on such weaponry. And even if nobody gets shot up here, people can still get shot up elsewhere--like in Iraq, which is taking the superhighway to hell.

Except terrorists don't seem to use guns, even if they decided to, these weapons were no more dangerous than any other guns. These are semi-automatic weapons, like hunting rifles.

terrorists/resistance fighters/whatever--there are more people walking around with guns than there are that deserve them

Wonderful. Can I go buy a machine gun, then? Or am I still stuck with semi-automatic Glocks?

glocks are pistols, which weren't regulated under this ban. Machine guns were regulated back in the 30's. Its also apparently illegal to own nuclear weapons, but I've never seen the statute.

So I can buy a Glock! Excellent. They're very cool. And if those people Public Safety promises are going to break into my room in the night to rape me and steal my laptop ever show up, I can shoot them ( ... )

except bullets are piercing damage, so zombies are gonna be basically immune. You'll have to hit them with the flat of your blade, unless you're playing by Gurps rules, in which case bullets are crushing, so you'd be ok, but only if you hit them in the chest, otherwise blowthrough will bite you in the ass. And zombies have a lot of hit points, maybe kelly should get a gun too...
