NEWARK, N.J. (AP)-After missing the playoffs for the first time since 1996, the New Jersey Devils have turned to Peter DeBoer to get them to the back to the postseason.

It’s a simple assignment, but seemingly an odd choice by Devils president and general manager Lou Lamoriello.

Good luck to him, but I'm glad he's gone. It's true he didn't have a lot of talent to work with in Florida, but the inconsistency is what bothered me. There were players (especially Horton) who literally skated around in circles on the ice and it was obvious they didn't give a damn, and he would do nothing, then he would bench someone who was skating their ass off and getting back on D but not finding the back of the net. The number of blown leads and 1 goal losses shows that our problem wasn't only talent.

Oh, I also hope he's learned to coach grown men rather than kids. Calling players like Vokoun out in the press when he has a bad game even though he single-handedly kept us in most games was just ridiculous.

I'm less interested in the Panthers and more interested in the Devils...lol I wanted a better coach for them after the diaster that was the first half of last season with Maclean. Once Lamaire came out of retirement we shaped up into a kick ass team.....called the runaway train of hockey. Sadly the shape up came too late for the playoffs. Which is a whole other rant of mine so I digress.

You should always be interested in the Panthers because I know I was hoping if we (the Devils) didn't get Moose, that Vokoun would have came here, but now I am glad he signed with the Capitals instead because I know I am going to be so goddamned angry and frustrated with having to see DeBoer so often AND to have him attempt to coach the poor poor team.
