Seats for live games?

In January, I'm going to my first live NHL game in about 6 years. I'll be seeing my team for the first time in even longer. Where do I want to sit?

I'm really lucky right now - I can afford pretty much any non-luxury-suite-pair in the building, and there are tickets available in almost every section. I have my own ideas about what the best seats ( Read more... )

I like to watch the benches, so I like to sit about half way up the lower bowl across from them.

I'd say the 200's, like 207/208 (I'm looking at the FNC seating chart). Stick to the middle, and higher is better in my opinion because then you can see the whole game. Sitting up against the glass is fun, but it's so hard to see everything going on there. I actually have no qualms about sitting in the nosebleeds because I can see everything going on.

Well, it'll depend on the arena a little bit. At Verizon, I like to be in one of the 2 sections on either side at mid ice, 1/2 way up in the lower section or at the front of the middle tier. The glass can be fun, but you don't get to see the whole game very well. I like to be high enough to watch all the action sans jumbotron, but low enough to see the players.

Front row of the second level, in the corner of the end the Oilers attack twice, left side so I'm opposite the benches. I randomly ended up there for the Atlanta line brawl game and it. was. awesome.

Nice. That's pretty close to where I think I'm going to pick.

Something about the corner just makes you feel like you see everything that happens on the ice in a way you don't at centre ice.

In a way, it's all laid out in front of you. If you're between the bluelines though, you can miss stuff behind the play.

I love watching from the uppermost levels, either in the corners where my team shoots twice or center ice. I have sat behind the goal in the 200s (mid-level) and thought that was also a pretty good place to see the play developing, though for some reason I didn't appreciate that spot as much when I was in the 300s...
