You know, in dismissing entire genres of music and anything that is "pop" (i.e. popular) by default, you are being just as limited as if you dismissed anything that didn't end up on MTV.
I personally don't really like rap/hip-hop as a genre, nor do I like country, reggae, or a few other genres (including emo, to be honest). However, in EVERY genre I dislike, I have found numerous exceptions. Likewise, I have found plenty of good popular music, and plenty of good music that nobody has heard of (and plenty of crap on both sides as well).
So, it always bothers me to see somebody step up and proclaim the evils of popular music, or state that entire genre of music is inherently bad. It's stupid to like music JUST because of the genre, or JUST because it's popular, but it's equally stupid to dislike it JUST for those reasons.
Well there are some things that start out not being popular that become popular. IE the Killers. I'll agree that there are exceptions to the genres. And in class is was just a rant against rap that turned to me being a pseudo-emo kid hating everything else. (It was just a socratic debate, in which many of me an my friends do conradictory stuff and take hilarious stand on subjects)
Dont worry too much its not how i thinkk ALL of the time, just most of the time. ;)
