((Plus their Shoggies if they care to appear. Backdated to December 31st of last year.))Variety may be the spice of life, but there was something to be said for familiarity and the stability and balance it brought, particularly for someone whose interpersonal relationships had been on a perpetual revolving door basis, with few exceptions. Toki was sitting beside Skwisgaar, paying no attention to the clock. Skwisgaar's aimless ambiance was a good backdrop for his current activity, which involved cutting scraps of felt and fleece into various shapes. He didn't really have a specific aim he was working towards, but he was also rather wired from the sugary snacks he'd been munching on for much of the day, and needed to do something to channel a bit of this energy. Despite the abundance of booze, he'd remained pleasantly buzzed rather than getting sloppy drunk. Lately, Toki had been much better about that. As to why, he couldn't have said, but, the fact was that familiarity and some sense of pleasant stability had been having their effect on him as well. He was happy with Skwisgaar, and hadn't been feeling the need for alcohol-based escapism. He'd been quite content to spend the day enjoying the food and decorations- and messing around with Skwisgaar, of course ( ... )

((Really sorry for the delay, it's been a hellish few weeks of dealing with an unexpected move of my own. Well, not completely unexpected, but I thought I'd have more time before it needed to happen, so my schedule was all messed up.))In Skwisgaar's preoccupation with his plans, the state of the weather outside hadn't actually occurred to him until he noticed Toki pulling on his coat. He got up and went to the closet to get a winter coat as well, likewise surreptitiously running a hand over one of his front pants pockets to ensure he wasn't forgetting his surprise, and then collected a couple of their spare, warm blankets in case it turned out to be even chillier than anticipated ( ... )

((Moving is always such a stress and disruption- I hope that it's ended up being a good one! My apologies for my own slowness, it's been a busy week here too.))While Skwisgaar retrieved his own coat, Toki took a tangled bundle of Shoggy scarves and worked upon extracting them individually, draping each one over a waiting Shoggy. Shoggy 10 was still mumbling on about firework flavours, while Shoggy 4.6 wondered if Great Master Cthulhoo was going to show up for event (he probably wouldn't, having no sense of human new years, nor any concern for their Earth-based calendar). Shoggy 3 was the one to remember their sleds, which trailed behind the Shoggies as they left the room- amazingly, the Shoggies managed to not get tangled up in the process ( ... )

Toki's sentiments brought a smile to Skwisgaar's face, and the shoggy's observation made him laugh. He'd long since stopped being so concerned about things such as proper brutality and how metal or not-metal anything happened to be, at least in private together, where there was no longer the need for pretenses. Taking one of the opened beers for himself, he slipped his other arm around Toki as they watched the night sky together, enjoying the sense of closeness ( ... )
