Harry scratched his bum as he walked by Severus, who was sitting in his normal spot at the table behind the morning Prophet. Harry knew that behind that paper, Severus would have his usual huge breakfast and would be drinking tea by now, having already devoured at least one pot of coffee…if not more. Harry could always tell when Severus was really onto a breakthrough, their coffee bill would skyrocket.

"Anything worth reading in there today, or is it just the usual rubbish?" Harry asked as he fixed his tea and toast.

"Mostly the usual rubbish," Severus said as he folded it and put it down. "Although, people are reporting unusual behavior at Hogwarts, it seems that the children are happy, and there is a great deal of school unity. This seems to have scared the reporter and several lower officials in the Ministry. This reporter seems to think that happy children and school unity can only mean that someone is manipulating them into being an army."

Harry snorted. "I know it hasn't been all that long since it was found that Dumbledore was pretty much doing exactly that, but how does happy children who are getting along equate to someone building an army. I mean, they can ask me, Dumbledore may have tried, little as it was, to get us to unite the school, but he wasn't about making us happy. The only thing that ever made me happy since getting off that first train was the sight of the castle and then, as I got older, the care she gave me." Harry looked into Severus' eyes, "Until this", Harry gestured between them, "Hogwarts was the only constant care I got. The first year it was like a great big constant hug. But, as things got harder for me, she was there more and more."

"Wait, what do you mean she was there more and more? Minerva wasn't that kind of House Head. She cared for her Lions, but nothing like you are describing." Severus asked.

"No, it wasn't Professor McGonagall. She was grea…who am I kidding? The only time she was actually there for me was when she went against Umbridge and you…and now that I think about it, I believe her pushing for me to become an Auror was more to knock Umbridge down a few pegs, not really to help me." Harry said as he shook his head. "Second year she helped me keep my courage and was always with me, even when everyone else left me. Now that I think of it, she most likely sent me Fawkes in the Chamber.

"Third year and Fourth year she comforted me when no one else seemed to understand. She even locked Skeeter in a broom closet after the witch tried to corner me even after Dumbledore had told her, Skeeter, to leave me alone." Harry looked up to see Severus looking at him intently. He wasn't sure if Severus believed him of not. "It wasn't just me she helped either, you know. Neville, Dean, and I all got her care. She could have been helping everyone for all I know. I was a little busy trying to stay alive back then."

Harry once again looked at Severus, who was looking more like he knew exactly what Harry was talking about now. "You had students in your House that seemed to do better than they should have considering what they were going through…What about Malfoy in our sixth year? He was tasked to kill the Headmaster, the only wizard Voldemort feared. A teenager and you're tasked to kill someone, someone who might as well be a god for all the power and knowledge difference between the two of you. Yeah, I know how tough that is. I remember Malfoy from back then. He was close to cracking, but something was helping him hold it together. It was her, if it wasn't you back then, it had to have been her. What about the rest of your House or the other Houses? Those years were rough. In the end it was you between any Death Eater that felt like walking through the doors and all those children. Neville was great, but you all had to have had someone else helping you, whether or not you realized it at the time…I can see it in your face. You do know exactly what I am talking about, don't you Severus?"

"There were times, when I was a student, especially after Mum died, I felt…but I had driven off my only friend and just felt that it was only because this was the only place I felt at home. Then as a professor…Yes, Harry, I believe I know exactly what you are talking about. I just do not believe I can discuss it as you have been. Please, continue, it is fascinating hearing it from someone else's point of view." Severus said.

Harry gave Severus a knowing look. "I understand, given some time you may be able to, and I would love to hear it when that time comes. Fifth and Sixth years were, well I only made it through them with her help. She was great, kept me company, cared for me as she could," Harry laughed, "she even sent me Dobby to cheer me up when her "hugs" weren't enough. But, she made him promise that he would only cheer me up, no more attempting to kill me through help."

Harry looked down and sighed. "That year on the run, it was all the more horrible because she couldn't help anymore. Then Ron left…well, you already know why Hermione and I will always be the best of friends. We held each other together during those months. Lucky for Ron that I am not interested in women, his abandonment really hurt both of us. If I had been interested, I might not have worked so hard to help her remember why she had loved him since forever. Don't look at me like that, those were her words, not mine. Those months were torture, and I don't just mean our visit to Malfoy Manor.

"Then, as I walked down that tunnel from Aberforth's, I could feel her welcoming me home. Letting me know how happy she was that I had survived without her, and that she would always be there for me no matter how old I was, or how long I went without visiting. Hogwarts told me that she loved me as much as she loved any of her children."
