Summary - Hogsmeade weekend fun ahoy~
Standing in the middle of the noisy and bustling street, Wakato stuffed his hands into the pockets of his robes and cast Akaya a look from under his copper colored bangs. "So do we hit up Zonko's first or Honeyduke's?" he queried. Decisions, decisions. They were both in need of some reinforcements to thier ... supply... cabinets in terms of items needed to pull off the best of their tricks on first years and other houses, but at the same time, Wakato knew that Akaya was also running low on sweets. "Buuut..." he singsonged at the fourth year, "if we stop at Honeyduke's first we can get some candy to give us an energy boost for the rest of the day." A wicked little smile curved up the corner of his lips because they certainly weren't the only people out shopping in Hogsmeade, and where there were people there were pranks to be had.
The word Honeyduke's worked like magic. Akaya's bored expression slid into excitement, then slowly into annoyance when he caught sight of a group of Hufflepuffs lingering outside the candy store. "That sounds like a plan. We better get what we need before their kind dig their dirty muggle fingers into our candy." Expecting Wakato to follow he cut through the crowd in a lazy saunter.
"How much did you bring anyway?" A smirk played on Akaya's lips as he turned to peer at his friend. "We should buy them out of what we want. The mudbloods can go elsewhere."
Wakato did as Akaya anticipated and followed at an easy gait, sliding in between the less desirables of the other house and tried his best not to hiss as one of them brushed up against him. "I brought enough." Wakato said simply. Which was to intone that he'd brought a small fortune because his dear mother would never let him go anywhere unprepared. "Now, I agree with you, quickly before muggle hands sully my candy before I have a chance to buy it." He made a face as a bell on the door jingled and the delightful warm smells of the reknowned candyshop enveloped him completely. "And we can't forget sugar quills!" he called after Akaya who seemed to already be headed towards one side of the store.
Akaya wasted no time in piling up the boxes of chocolate frogs into his basket. "Don't worry, 'kato. I got the quills covered." Basket full and shelf empty, he finally began to make his way towards the shelf of sugar quills, only to have a Hufflepuff first year beat him to it just several steps ahead. Juggling the basket to one arm he grabbed the boy's wrist with his free hand, flashing of sharp white teeth in a dangerous. "Touch them and I'll hex you."
At the kid's frightened face Akaya quickly softened his expression, pressing a box of chocolate frogs into the first year's hand. "Try this. It's better." Waiting patiently till the Hufflepuff opened it and took a bite of the frog he quickly raised his hand to catch the storekeeper's attention. "Excuse me sir. This guy's eating the candy without paying for it."
Wakato made it over just after the store keeper had ushered away what looked like a traumatized hufflepuff. "Aw~ did you have fun with that one?" Wakato asked brightly before eyeing the sugar quills Akaya had picked up. He knew his friend's antics all too well and didn't even have to ask for details as to what the other Slytherin had done. As for himself, Wakato had was stocked up on Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, Droobles Best Blowing gum and Ice Mice. He had to hold the basket with both hands from the weight of the candy, but no matter, it was all worth it.
"The usual." Akaya reached over and snatched a jelly bean, popping the sweet into his mouth. Eyes falling half shut he began to roll it about his tongue. Roast turkey, one of his favorites and increasingly rare.
Glancing from their candy to the Hufflepuff being chatized off the side of the store Akaya felt a stab of regret. "Shouldn't have done that though. Now who's gonna carry our stash?"
Wakato raised an eyebrow as Akaya ate the jellybean and then ate one of his own only to spit it out on the floor. "Oh bugger ... bech... I hate sprouts... I always expect the green to be mint..." he muttered ruefully and gave the weepy little hufflepuff a small sneer. "You're right... you should've just waited until we got back to the castle and then pushed him down the stairs or something. Though.. I guess that is more my style than yours..." Wakato conceded and began eyeing other things around the store.
He needed to locate a kind of chocolate that was normal but since all he ever ate were chocolate frogs he didn't know where this more.. plan and nearly muggle variation on the candy was. Turning to his friend he rubbed his nose with his free hand and tried to seem nonchalant. "Akaya, do you... know if they have any just... plain chocolate? you know... some that doesn't move or anything?" Wakato asked. Takahisa hated the moving frogs, said they grossed him out and Wakato was bound and determined to find his er.. friend .. something that he could enjoy.
Glancing over to double check that the storekeeper was still distracted, Akaya reached over a nearby shelf and popped one of the mini flavor changing jawbreakers into his mouth. "They're blaming your stair pushing habit on poltergiests. Did you know that?" The candy in his mouth changed abruptly from strawberry to mint, flavors clashing, and making a face he pulled it out of his mouth. "Here." Saliva slick fingers pushed it past Wakato's lips. "You wanted mint so try this."
He had been just about ready to take thier candy to the counter when Wakato posed a question that made Akaya stop, gaze suspicious as he returned it with a quiery of his own. "Plain chocolate... you mean the ones muggles eat?" He'd only heard of one person who had it, the red headed Gyrffindor who had pushed him into the lake. Remembering Bunta always soured Akaya's mood. "Why? Planning to feed the animals, 'kato? How admirable."
The mint candy in his mouth stayed that way and he was pleased for the time being until it changed to lemon. "Ugh, merciful.." Wakato's day was just not going as planned apparently, wrinkling his nose he went ahead and kept it in his mouth and waited for the next flavor (thankfully grape) instead of spitting it out. "Poltergeists? They think poltergeists are shoving students? Please.. as if any of them except Peeves have any kind of reputation like that..." Wakato sneered, he was almost upset that someone else was getting credit. Then again, someone else was also getting in trouble. "Hmph.. well at least I'm not catching detention..." he mused aloud.
Shifting the weighty basket in his hands, he gave Akaya a look and tried to pretend he wasn't blushing. "Well not so much the animals as a Ravenclaw who can't stand chocolate frogs because they're too much of a wuss to deal with them wriggling on the way down." Wakato cleared his throat and shuffled around another shelf and peaked back around it at Akaya, "so? You know of any or am I going to have to go and ask the shop keeper?" He shifted the jawbreaker in his mouth and grabbed a nearby gumball out of a barrel before chucking it at Akaya playfully and then ducking out of harm's way with a laugh.
"..." Akaya snatched the gumball from the air, tossing it into his mouth. He knew where this was going. He'd suspected it from reading the comments shared on journals and Wakato's sudden stranger behavior. Crossing his arms on the shelf his friend was hiding behind Akaya peered at Wakato's face intently. "You're getting it for Kaji aren't you?"
The accusatory note in Akaya's voice made Wakato pause before answering. "And... so... so what if I am, he's been a good friend as of late." Yes, a good friend, who he happened to have a crush on, and it was best to just leave that part out. "I thought it would be a nice gesture to give him some candy. I'd give him chocolate frogs but like I said, he's a wuss and won't eat them because they move." He smoothed over his tracks with an insult... he figured that was a clever way to keep Akaya off his case though time would tell whether or not he'd succeeded.
"A nice gesture?" Akaya reached around and tangled his fingers in the wealth of red hair, tugging Wakato close. "That doesn't sound very Slytherin does it?" Letting the strands slip free he ran his nails down his friend's cheek, neck, lingering at Wakato's collarbone before he stepped away and broke contact. "Makes me worried that you're getting a bit soft for Kajimoto." Wakato was HIS close friend. And Akaya didn't want anyone getting between them.
However as quickly as Akaya's jealousy flared it dissapeared. "But I suppose he's not so bad. Pureblood and Ravenclaw." Despite himself Akaya even liked Kajimoto. The Ravenclaw was easy to pick on and reacted so animatedly to his prodding. "You're in luck. I know JUST the thing for him! And I promise the chocolate doesn't move."
Wakato shivered as nails raked down his skin, Akaya had nasty tendencies sometimes and he suddenly worried. Was he not being Slytherin enough? That was going to be a problem, if Akaya noticed the others would. "Going a bit soft for him? Hmph. Seems like you're going a bit daft..." he snorted and then eased up a bit as the other boy seemed rather helpful instead..
He should've been suspicious. "Really? Doesn't move?" Wakato rubbed his nose and followed along. "Well, where is it?"
"Let me check if it's still around here. Wait one second." Akaya sauntered over to a corner of the store where several baskets of chocolate squares were on display. Making sure his friend couldn't see what he was doing from this angle he switched the label that read "Wriggly Gummi Worm Squares" with another that had "Caramel Chocolate" printed on it, raising his voice so Wakato could hear. "Found it, 'kato!"
He'd been occupied with poking through a crate of the jawbreakers when he heard Akaya call after him. Stuffing a couple of the candies in his basket he hurried over and looked at the (outwardly) completely innocuous chocolates. "So these don't move or anything?" He raised a speculative eyebrow and grabbed a bag, scooping out the chocolates into it and tossing them into his basket. "Well then I guess we're done here, aren't we? Zonko's after we pay... or the Three Broomsticks?"
"As I said, the chocolate doesn't move." Akaya slid an arm around Wakato's shoulder, leaning in and peering down at their stash. That would be enough to keep them stocked for a couple of weeks, as long as Gakuto or Chitose didn't discover where they hid it. He pulled away, fingers toying with the short red strands that brushed the back of Wakato's neck, and led the way to the counter."I'm thirsty for some butterbeers."
Tilting his head back to let Akaya comb through the flippy ends of his hair, Wakato wrinkled his nose and sighed, being herded towards the counter. "Alright then, Three Broomsticks it is." A small third world country probably could've subsisted off of their candy stash for a year, but the two of them were growing boys - they needed their energy - two weeks was stretching it for them. "Thanks for helping me find the chocolates."
"Anything for a friend." Akaya smiled cheerily, in high spirits for a job well done. He silently vowed to hide somewhere nearby. There was no way he was missing Kajimoto's reaction to the moving Gummi Worms, brushing off the fact that he'd be within hexing distance of a sure to be furious Wakato. As long as he wasn't seen, and stayed that way for another few hours, the red head's temper would blow off. Spotting the little Huffle he had gotten in trouble he gave the kid a little wave before turning his attention to the storekeeper. "We're ready."
