The Rules

Okay. I'm really thinking we should get this contest started ASAP. So, here are the semi-finalized rules. Feel free to comment. In fact, I really really want you to. Input = Awesomeness. :)

1.) Each essay must describe all four houses as you see them. Include what you feel are their characteristics, strong points, weaknesses, etc. Be creative. It' ( Read more... )

one thing I'm wondering about this contest is for the voting, are we going to vote on the essays as a set or have individual voting with each house being a different category? I was just wondering about that. the rules look great to me (:

re: the Spirit Cup, I think it'd be more fun to surprise everybody :D I don't think it'd be that much more motivation, because people are still motivated to earn points, so I don't think it'd make too much of a difference. on the other hand, I think a surprise would just stir things up a bit and be more fun :D it just seems so much cooler to me because it's like a prize they're not even trying for, so it's really something they deserve, if that makes sense. of course, anybody who reads this community will know about the Spirit Cup, but yeah.

I think as a set would work best. Some people might not have a clear-cut separation between their descriptions, so it might be harder to crop them.

Yeah. I like the idea of a surprise. :) I guess me and you (or a select few) will have to work things out to keep it on the d/l once the time comes.

Cheers!

hm, yeah, I see your point about not having a clear-cut separation, but... I just think it'd work better to vote separately because I think there are pretty good chances that people won't have equal understandings of all the houses, so the same person who wrote what you think is the perfect Slytherin description might've written something that you think is totally out of character for Ravenclaw. y'know what I mean?

I understand, but I'd hope that people would vote on how the essay was written, not necessarily how they interpreted the house. Everyone has different opinions of the houses, but as long a person argues their case with eloquence, I think I'd vote for them. :)

However, I definitely see what you mean. Do you have any way of making a poll? If so, maybe you can post a poll about this in hogwarts_spirit and people will respond. I think it's easier to respond to polls than read a message and type their thoughts.

Either way, we can ask the masses and go from there. :D
