Tamara (
tmyers526) and myself have been discussing the idea of a Quidditch Tournament sponsored by The Hogwarts Spirit Club. Since we both feel we're making some progress, but everything being said is in a comment, we wanted to sum it all up and bring it to the public to read. :) Here we go; I hope I don't forget anything. :P

also, I prefer leaving the competition open to whoever wants to join rather than having teams, especially since that makes it more fun for newer members of the community, but I definitely see your worry that certain houses with less (active) members would have a big disadvantage there.
also, I'd love to help run the contest (: as Groundskeeper I definitely can't participate, so running it would be the next best thing :D

Well, then, we have to work out the rules for Referees. Do you have any ideas? I was thinking we'd (I say "we" because I'd like to be one, also) make up the questions. That way, we can work on some sort of formula - like: 15 easy, 20 Medium, 15 hard. Something like that. What do you think? My idea is really broad and open to any type of alteration.

Basically, we have a few questions concerning the Quidditch tournament.
1.) Are they interested in a Quidditch tournament? I don't think it's necessary to give out details. We just want to know if there'll be interest before we start structuring and finalizing things.
2.) Which would they prefer: House v. House, where everyone competes -or- Team v. Team, where only a select few play for their house?
3.) Would they object to prefects, who will also monitor the tournaments in their own common room, being referees? A referee being defined as someone who organizes the tournament and makes decisions concerning the questions and results for the "game".
a.) Would they object to Tamara (tmeyers526), the Slytherin prefect, refereeing the games?
b.) Would they object to Trisha (onceuponatime13), the Hufflepuff prefect, refereeing the games?
c.) Would they object to Katie (rawtoast), the Groundskeeper, refereeing the games ( ... )

Hmm ... Good question. I guess they'd just have to trust us. I really don't have an answer for this one, because I can really see the problems it may cause. As an Administrator and/or Referee, we have an inside to the contest. We're also making the questions, so I can definitely see some worries about us giving away the answers. of course, we wouldn't, but I understand the worries it may cause.
I guess we'll have to think of some full-proof way of getting everyone to trust us. I'll think on that one, because nothing is coming to mind.
Oh, and there we go with the ties again ... We could either go for whoever had their answers in first. Or, we could have a tie-breaker question and, if there's still a tie, we could go about the first person to turn it in. o.O
Hmmm ... :P

However, I really think it's unfair for you to take a backseat in this project, when it was your idea. If Katie could make a poll, that would be great! We could also use that opportunity to ask them about the Quidditch tourny, period. Do they like the idea? Houses vs. House? Team vs. Team? Etc.
And posting it on Friday would be a great idea, too. I'm sure most of the action in the community takes place over the weekend.
