Who: Daphne, and whoever decides to show up to visit
When: Late afternoon, after classes
Where: In the infirmary
Why: Because Daphne is rather amusing when she's high on painkilling potions
Rating: PG, due to a character being high, but legally so because it's for medicinal reasons

Nothing like roughly 30 hours of unconsciousness to leave one feeling well-rested )

Draco heard about what happened from Pansy, and who knew where she'd heard it (she had womanly wiles and such), but it didn't much matter. The point was that, since he had a free period and knew Daphne was probably awake, he was going to go up to the hospital wing and visit her.

There was no point to knocking so he just walked in, slowing as he approached her bed. She looked... well... sort of dazed. As if she was off in la-la-land somewhere. It might have been the effect of a painkilling potion, Draco'd had that happen once or twice before.

"Daph?" he inquired tentatively, tapping his fingernails on the metal foot of her bed to get her attention. "Hello."

"Oh, hiiiii Draco," said Daphne with a little wave. Now that everything tingled instead of hurt, and the painkilling potion was in general making her feel pretty good, she was more than happy to have visitors. Even if she had no grasp of the fact that it was the next day.

"You're talking to my feet," she declared with a small laugh.

Draco's eyebrows disappeared into his hair. Yep, definitely woozy. This was going to be a fun visit. Maybe he should send Theo up later, that'd be hilarious.

Actually... that was a great idea. Good thing Daphne was too out of it to notice how wicked his smile suddenly turned.

"Well, you have such beautiful feet," he said easily. "Are you feeling better? I heard that idiotic oaf Hagrid sicced one of his pets on you. This really is getting ridiculous, I'm sure even without my father to pull strings, we could get him sacked for this."

"Madame Pomfrey gave me a special potion that made me feel aaaaaall good," Daphne declared. "It's tingly, like very tasty butterbeer, only all over."

Hagrid getting sacked...for the first few seconds, she couldn't actually think as to how this would get him sacked, but then her ability to reason things out returned.

"Well, Dumbledore's not around to protect him anymore," she mused. "So it'd be a good way to test the Gryffindor Conspiracy. And if Dumbledore managed to use mass-scale mind control on people without using the Imperius curse, because the blind could see that Hagrid's not fit to teach. I mean, he didn't even graduate."

Daphne nodded seriously, then added, "Definitely mass-scale mind control. Yes."

Pansy was quiet as she slipped into the hospital wing, making certain that she wasn't disturbing anyone else as she made her way to Daphne's bed. She was chewing on her lower lip as she approached, Daphne's wireless radio in her arms.

"Daphne? Sweetheart, are you awake?"

"Hiiiii Pansy!" Daphne replied, answering her friend's question with her very clearly contendly drugged response. Time seemed to pass differently while she was confined to her bed like this, and while she wasn't feeling any pain, she was feeling a great deal of boredom when nobody was around to keep her company.

"My body tingles!" she declared.

"Does it?" Pansy said, a helpless giggle in her voice. "Is it a pleasant tingle at least?" She set the wireless unit down on the bedside table, leaning over to give her friend a hug. "Other than tingly, how're you feeling?"

Daphne noticed the wireless being set down and let out a delighted little squeal. Music meant having something to do when nobody was keeping her company. Madam Pomfrey had reassured her that her parents had been sent an owl about her injuries, and that her brothers had stopped by while she was unconscious. The only thing that Madam Pomfrey hadn't told her (that she could remember) was how much time had passed.

"Very glad to have company," she replied, giving Pansy a hug in return. "It's boring here, Pans. How long was I unconscious? Have I missed dinner yet?"

Draco is Scheming. What else is new? lostinthegray August 9 2007, 05:27:04 UTC
Draco entered the common room with mischief in mind, and homed in on Theo like a hawk zeroing in on its prey. He made his stride deliberately casual and schooled his features into a grave sort of regret. Hands in his pocket, he sat down across from the seat Theo had taken (close to the fire, benefits of being an upperclassman) and addressed him. "Oi. Nott. Did you hear about Daphne ( ... )

Draco laughed. "Don't be so irritable, it's not MY fault my mother made me learn the basics. And you're right," he said imperiously, "red roses are overdone. They also stand for romantic love. Are you sure you want to make that statement yet?" he wondered rhetorically. "Of course, they could be part of an arrangement, but you'd really IMPRESS her if you bought her flowers that were lesser-known, that actually said something meaningful ( ... )

Luna drifted into the infirmary carrying a small package with a tea towel thrown over it, and had almost walked past Daphne when she stopped at the foot of her bed and turned to look at her. "Hello Daphne Greengrass. How are you?" Luna addressed the space beyond Daphne's head.

Ordinarily, Daphne would have been surprised that Luna Lovegood was speaking to her for anything other than being sent down to the infirmary for something or another. However, in Daphne's present state, the Slytherin girl wasn't questioning a thing. After all, company was great to have and made lying around in bed all the more bearable.

"I feel tingly," she declared cheerfully. "How are you, Lovegood?"

"I am fairly happy, thank you," Luna smiled faintly, "If you are tingly you might not need this, though." At "this" she lifted the package she held slightly, but as she hadn't yet removed the tea towel from the top of it, it just made the edge of the towel flutter.
"Hagrid sent me along to wish you well on the mend and apologise for Melvin's behaviour," Luna explained, "now that you are awake."

"Painkilling potion is goooooood," said Daphne, sounding very much out of it due to the potion Pomfrey had given her to cope with the pain from her injuries.

"Melvin needs to be apologized for," she said with a nod when Luna explained her presence. "Melvin's a git who beats up on small girls not even a quarter his size."

Theo got outside the boundary of the castle and immediately apparated to Hogsmeade village. He had a number of things that he needed to purchase and a limited amount of time to accomplish them if we wanted to be able to visit Daphne that day. He always kept a healthy supply of money on him at all times, so he had no need to visit Gringotts. There was only one thing that he needed to purchase here in the village, and it was at a shop entirely unfamiliar to him. He stood outside the front of the building for a moment before casually strolling in. It seemed that no one could get away with not visiting Honeydukes at least once while at Hogwarts ( ... )
