Name: Sym X. Lockwood
Age: 15
Favourite Subject at Hogwarts: Astrology- I enjoy learning about constellations/legends, and besides that, it’s the perfect excuse to stare at the stars without being shoo-ed off to bed or away to do something useful.
How do you spend your leisure time at Hogwarts?: Reading/studying/exploring- I love learning new things (so long as they’re interesting), and really dislike being behind on subjects, even when I’m just talking with my friends about something relatively meaningless. I also get restless a lot, so exploring would simultaneously give me an excuse to stretch my legs and educate me about the many twists and turns that help make Hogwarts the school it is.
If you could store one memory in a Pensieve, what would it be?: Oh, my. Probably the conversation I had with my older sister once- we spent hours theorizing about existence and evolution vs. creation- in our own way, of course! Somehow, the chief metaphor for “life” or “existence” ended up as “bubbles”…
If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into?: Well, my own big fear is physical pain; I’m a total wimp like that! So, maybe a sadist of some kind?
What would you see in the Mirror of Erised?: Success- being intelligent and resourceful in my own right, instead of being overshadowed by my siblings. I’d see myself as my true gender as well- being raised as I have been, exploration of gender and sexuality have been (and are) encouraged, and I found out very quickly that I am not, in fact, female. If I’m being greedy about this, a companion of some kind. I don’t see my friends that often, and beyond that, I’d be hard pressed to refer to any of them as my “best friend”. None of us mean that much to each other.
What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself?: To fight my mom harder about leaving public school- home schooling isn’t bad, per say, but it’s not for me, and getting back in is harder then leaving in the first place.
Would you have put your name in the Goblet of Fire?: Oh, hell no! I’d be quite content to watch from the side-lines and cheer everybody on. Fame isn’t for me, though I couldn’t say that I would mind the fortune…
Harry Potter: Hero, Attention-Seeker, or Normal Kid in a Bad Situation? And Why?: The third- he never asked for this, and given the choice I’m positive he’d choose to have his parents instead of that insanity that he went through. He also seems to have the same sort of complex that I have, underneath it all: he never really asks for attention, but while he squirms uncomfortably under scrutiny, he also feels gratified by positive attention, maybe more so because at times it‘s scarce.
Voldemort: Evil, Genius, or just plain Misunderstood? And why?: Is Evil Genius an option? I certainly don’t agree with, well, anything that he did, and also believe in equality, but I don’t believe there’s any denying that he (Voldemort) is/was extremely intelligent, if completely mad.
Under what circumstances would you use an Unforgivable Curse?: If someone I love was threatened with one. Maybe if I was paid an inordinate amount of money.
You know.
Maybe.
What single quality goes the furthest in defining who you are?: Diffident.
What makes a person respectable?: Compassion, and the ability to stick with their guns without throwing said guns in other people’s faces. To know when to remain quiet, and to know when they’re needed.
If you had to choose between your family, your friends, and your own beliefs, what would you do?: At this particular juncture, I have but a few beliefs of my own, but they’re oh-so important to me- at times, I really feel like they’re the only things that keep me sane. So, my beliefs.
What do you look for in a friend?: Intelligence, and similar hobbies (i.e., fan girl/boying over everything that twitches the right/wrong way, writing all. the. time., etc.). A mind that wouldn’t be too shocked by my pervy-ness would be nice.
Put the following words in order of importance to you: Duty, Family, Friendship, Honor, Justice, Power, Tradition
Tradition,
Friendship,
Family,
Justice,
Duty,
Honor,
Power.
If you could have either a well paid easy job that did not task you mentally, or a lower paying job which gave you the freedom to pursue your interests, which would you choose?: Lower paying job- usually, I love something or I hate it, so I’d rather be happy in a small apartment then miserable in a pent house, so to speak.
What qualities do you possess from each of the four houses?:
Gryffindor: I have ADD. And don’t look at me like that- ADD is totally a Gryffindor quality!
Ravenclaw: I spend next to all of my time reading about history and the like. I’m also extremely open-minded (indeed, I live somewhere that it would spell doom if I wasn’t!).
Hufflepuff: I’m loyal to the very end if you do something that inspires it.
Slytherin: I’m a traditionalist in most everything I do- I also have a side to myself that surprises even me when it comes up with something particularly snappish and nasty to snarl at someone I care about.
If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?: I’d make myself braver. Everything else about myself that I don’t like is realistically changeable. Bravery is something I severely lack, though.
If you were an animagus, what would you turn into? (Assuming that the animal reflects the person, it is not chosen.): According to several different websites and tests, I would be a Culpeo (
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culpeo ).
In which house do you think you belong, and why?: I’d much rather keep my silence here- I want to know what you guys think!
How did you find us? If it was from a post say where and who posted it.: Interest search: Luna Lovegood.
