GENERAL QUESTIONS

Your Name?:Cynthia

Age?:25

Gender?:The better one, I mean female

Location?: Alabama

Horoscope?:Taurus sun, Aquarius moon, Sagittarius Ascending

Likes?: driving, writing, movies, filmmaking, being able to be creative and work independently, doing what I’m perfectly allowed to do but told I couldn’t, humiliating assholes, competent leaders, or being one

Dislikes?:not having a license, riding in buses or cars for an hour or more, willful ignorance, people who keep others in the dark or realizing their full potential, people who believe the lie that they have nothing to offer others unless they fit some predetermined mold, homophobia, people who have to argue a point when the decision has already been made rather than following along or doing something to actually solve the problem, and totalitarian ass-hats

Hobbies?:recording and manipulating music and sound, photography, reading

Favourite quote/saying/lyric?: "Every man dies, not every man really lives."
“You have a chance to really shine now / Well patience never was one of your true virtues / And f*ck what they say / What do you have to prove?”
"Recognizing someone else's power does not diminish your own."
What are your strengths?: Honest, usually, unless I or someone close to me benefits more from a little dishonesty, I think outright or compulsive lying is indecent, I'm respectful, creative, fairly intelligent, but not exactly willing to always show it, independent, and attentive, finishes things

What are your weaknesses?: Obsessive, easily distracted, perfectionist, sarcastic, avoidant when it doesn't really apply to me, isn't really any of my business, a bit controlling for things I do want, but people generally just see that as ambitious, what they don't see is how paranoid I can be and all those nasty negative emotions

What do you like best about yourself?: My intuition, though I know it’s not always completely reliable, it is generally what I trust more than my feelings or temporary desires and I know will take me far in life

What are your goals or aims in life?: To create something that will last forever. To do something that gets people talking about me, or the thing I created, or both. I know they aren’t reacting to me, still, it’s nice. I’m really not picky on “good” or “bad”, as I tend to side with the Bard on that front. Hell, just the other day I was trying to sell this painting to this kid, "Why don't you get your mom to buy you this?" for an auction. And this friend of mine started cracking up, "That's terrible." I explained, "I've sold worse things to kids." To which he persisted to laugh even harder.

PERSONAL QUESTIONS

Which character from Harry Potter, DISCLUDING the obvious answer of Harry, would you say you most admire and why?: I would say Alastor Moody, but I suppose mostly just what we see of him in Goblet of Fire, which is really just Barty Crouch Jr. in disguise. Which might come across as pushy or something, but then he at least had a great deal of creativity and versatility in his mannerisms, whereas Moody himself is so rigid…I love how he really knows his stuff - which gives points to Barty for the research necessary to pull off such a ruse. Not to mention it’s all done out of this twisted sort of loyalty to a lost cause simply out of (I might say deserved) spite to his parents? Strikes me as extremely brave and endearing.

Which Hogwarts subjects would you be best and worst at - or otherwise like and dislike most?: Divination I would probably do well because it’s all about how well you can BS, and I can do that, but I’d probably most enjoy Transfiguration, for the challenge, relation to English with all the emphasis on language, Charms for the general usefulness of each spell, Potions wouldn’t like me because it seems most like cooking or chemistry, with cooking I tended to be basic and lazy at as a kid or try weird combinations that no one in their right mind would taste and chemistry I just never managed to do very well, I’d enjoy Care of Magical Creatures, because those sort of smells I’m quite used to and animals are fun, even the Screwts, not much to look at but good training for dragons

Which house would you WANT to be in, or which do you have most respect for and why?: Uh, Gryffindor, because that’s the house that Rowling portrayed as most respectable? Lol XD But, no, seriously, they do seem to be some of the only characters shown to be on the forefront of change - which is a shame, because the values of the other houses are equally capable of carrying it about - even, perhaps with more discipline. But also because chivalry is NOT dead and is something that needs to be put into practice a little more - the art of putting others’ ambitions ahead of the self, because in truth it really benefits both parties more in the long run, I think. Gryffindors are generally determined and passionate about the things they love, whatever they maybe. They might have excessive pride but lack the discipline to really claim it, other houses might see them as pretentious or arrogant. The way Severus Snape views James Potter, and later all Gryffindors. Maybe even members of their own house, cue Hermione Granger. Lil’ Miss I-know-everything-because-I-read-it-in-a-book. These qualities are endeared only by the Gryffindor’s ability to step outside themselves at the most crucial moments - though not all moments - and sacrifice what they want for what other people need. Or is that Snape again? Can he be an honorary Gryffindor? As much as he’d vehemently resist that title.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?: I suppose it’d be “not to be so scared to show my emotions” to others, because it leads to miscommunications and burnt bridges at times.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?: Myself, because I want to change a lot of things in the world, and the first step to do that is to change myself. First and foremost what must go are my illusions, my safety nets, my assumptions, my prejudices…only in this way can I ever attempt to achieve the change in others that I seek. The first rule of getting what you want is to first stop wanting it, and just act. Play on circumstances where they fall.

How much use would magic have in your current everyday life?: Everything, I suspect. My BFF would probably curse me every day because she’s of the Wicca old-school rule of three that Rowling apparently abandoned. IDK, might have to convert her. Once I showed her how fun it is…

If you had one day left to live, what would you do?: Been there, um, one day…hmm, I suppose not much different, unless something came up, funds are tight, transportation unreliable, might have sex with this young man that has been trying to get in my pants for the last year. Unsuccessfully because he’s a whore. But he is sort of cute, mostly just awkward - but I never go for looks - smarter than he thinks, and EXTREMELY BRAVE, DARING and more importantly he’s fair, and what some would call CHIVALROUS. But under any other conditions I’d never do it, because I can’t trust he’d respect me much afterwards -- though I don't know how much actual evidence I have to support this (again, paranoid). I'll keep him as a reliable actor, but as far as any romantic goals...If I was dying anyway, well, the joke would be on him. Imagine if I got him towards the tail end of the day…oh, that would be evil…he probably wouldn’t pull out either. Ew. Gross. Funny, but gross. Okay, I’ve reached maximum squick levels for the day. Necrophilia is my new line. Who’s hungry?

Tell us three random things about yourself:
I am a first born sibling
Did the regional poetry slam several years ago in Miami out of sheer boredom with college classes even though I barely knew the hosts
I understand attraction and caring about others, but I'm still not too sure about love, seems more like dependence to me

THIS OR THAT QUESTIONS

Realism or Idealism?: Realism
Optimism or Pessimism?: Pessimism
Order or Flexibility?: Why do these have to be mutually exclusive?
Planning or Spontaneity?: Spontaneity
Goals or Dreams?: Um, both? Mostly dreams, and mostly because goals are dreadfully tedious, but necessary
Practical or Abstract?: Everything has its place
The Individual or The Collective?: The Collective is only as strong as its weakest link, so The Individual
Standing your ground or Surrendering?: Depends on what for
Lover or Fighter?: Lover for others in general terms, Fighter, just for me, and occasionally family or people I love like family, and a really good cause -- but these would also be just extensions of *me*
Impulsive or Cautious?: More so impulsive, but I’ve learned a lot from those mistakes, so a wee bit more cautious lately
Mature or Immature?: Mature

SITUATIONAL / IN-STORY QUESTIONS

Would you hex someone who was bothering you there and then?: No, not for just one little thing, I generally just ignore people who bother me, maybe if it were a long time coming…unless someone else gets to them first, might prefer something they are less likely to realize was done by me -until after it’s done. Then I’m all like, HA, fooled you! (as long as the consequences are light) Which, admittedly is counterproductive to any kind of subtlety I was trying to establish. But the end was achieved. (and the consequences are light).

What do you see in the Mirror of Erised?: I would be afraid to look, honestly. Probably me standing next to the premier of my film in some local theatre, perhaps. With lots of people reacting to it, not always positively, but with passion, maybe a couple of people walking out in the beginning or middle angry about how it's upset them. Just something I like doing. Taking people out of their comfort zones. Possibly as some sick sort of revenge for being taken from and, thus, never feeling like I'm in mine.

What special wizarding power - i.e. Animagi, Metamorphagi, being a Seer - would you want to have?: Animagi would've appealed to me a lot when I was younger, but now, and certainly after having read the series, I have to say Apparation or Legimens look quite a bit more attractive.

In what situation would you use an Unforgiveable curse?: Life-or-death.

Be honest - if you were in the wizarding community, what view would you take on blood heritage? (If you don't know, perhaps put your current views of class and the like into context): Class is changeable, but as far as blood heritage, you can’t change where you came from. I’d probably be Pureblood, I relate well enough to the upper-middle class Blacks in such a way. I’d probably have as many prejudices as Ron because like many in the wizarding world there’s simply a lot about the “other side” that I don’t know. But also like Ron, I wouldn’t fault them, and actually probably be extremely curious about them. Albeit, I might consider them slightly “without” because they don’t have magic and I’d think “everyone should” and have a bit of an ego complex when I was younger that this made me “better able to deal with life” as Draco shows. But, also, like Draco, I can relate to the crushing reality that magic can only help a small amount and would be actually quite a refuge, but not the only one, when one doesn’t have any more wealth. And this is where I relate magic to creativity. And lord knows I feel like I’m blessed with a lot of privilege because of that. Artists, generally speaking > everyone else, I even understand the persecution aspect from that angle. Which is so pretentious I’m not able to finish it as a thought because artists are also, like some canon wizards, generally speaking, kind of douchebags.

Imagine the Death Eaters come to your house, you being the head of an average wizarding family. They say join them, or otherwise give them ONE member of the family. What do you choose to do? What action perhaps would you take after making this decision?

My father, they can keep, he maybe dead now for all I know, at least he is to me.

Afterwards? IDK, party? Break down and cry behind closed doors Who wants to pitch in for pizza?

Colin Creevey has been following you around all day, trying to get you to teach him a new secret spell he saw you do that he thought was cool. What do you do?: See, these are the sort of people I generally just avoid or ignore, or occasionally tell to shut up. Might muffaloto their voices from my range. Might have to perform a body bind if they insist on following too close. Might just apparate the hell out of there. I don't like confrontation.

Would you rather be attacking up close and personal, hiding far off using a type of long range attacks, or not on the battle field at all?: Attacking up close and personal if they’re shooting at me, but generally I think I’d prefer long range attacks, possibly delivering supplies to braver expendable soldiers.

FINAL QUESTIONS

If you could become any character from the series for one day - 24 hours - who would it be?: Severus Snape. He kind of grates on my nerves the way he treated the students at times. Though, from some aspects I can understand the level of annoyance with insufferable-know-it-alls and students who can’t seem to do anything right. There still always seems to be a “better” more productive way of churning out better students. Quality *AND* quantity people. Kids, and well, most people, actually, can't exactly be formed to suit whatever mold you want for them. They will eventually grow into their own. The best we can do is provide guidance. But the only way to know for sure would be to be in his shoes. Hope he washed them better than his shorts.

If you were given the chance to permanently become part of the HP-verse (as "yourself"), would you take it?: Yes. Wait, let me think about it. Still, yes.
