Probably the sulfur. My GI wants me to stay away from beef because it becomes sulfurous in the intestines. Makes me wonder what something that contains sulfur would do.
I hate taking prednisone too, but when I get real bad it's the only thing that helps. My first doctor only had me take a round of it when it needed it, like 3-4 times a year, but my last doctor wanted me to take it every day, which lead to (UGH) weight gain. I'm shopping around for a new doctor now and hopefully they'll let me take it only when I want to.
I've never had a bone density test either, but because I'm allergic to milk, my mother has been on my case to get it done since I haven't drunk any milk since I was about 10 or 11. I DO manage to tolerate some cheese and a little yogurt every once in a while though, so I don't think I'm on the verge of breaking a hip just yet.
Air layering is a way of propagating plants... you make a slice upward into the stem of a plant that will work with this technique, then you smear a little rooting compound in (I think it's mostly one of the B vitamins). After that's done you wrap it with moist sphagnum moss and then snug the whole thing up with plastic wrap with a tie at the bottom and at the top. You check it for moisture and maybe occasionally add water. I go by how the plastic looks (condensation, etc.). Check it after about 4 weeks for any signs of roots. Wait another two weeks. When there's a good root system filling the plastic wrap, then you open everything up, cut the portion you got the roots on off, and put it in its own pot. The cut end of the plant should produce a new bud under the cut area. It's really neat when it works.
HA! I've never done that. I don't recall ever making a buy for myself, either.
I did find my rooting hormone and I cut up a couple of pineapples I had sitting around here. I treated the base of the tops with the rooting stuff and it'll have to sit for a couple of days, then it goes into some palm/cactus soil.
I've got a pineapple plant that I started like that when we first moved here in 2008. It's about 30" tall now, soil to tip of longest spike. I'm hoping it'll make a baby pineapple some day. Even if it doesn't it's a nice looking plant.
I'm sorry. I have nothing helpful, insightful, or comforting to offer. Just that I am sorry you are in pain, and have to see doctors all the time, and just all of it! Hugs you!
Honey, compared to this time last year I'm doing abso-freakin'-lutely great. Yeah, stuff hurts, but I can deal with it better because I don't feel confined to the house. My guts, hell, my whole immune system is so much better that I don't believe the change that's occurred. So don't be sorry for me. I'm getting along as well as can be expected and right now that's pretty damn good.
Oh, and I think this is my third doctor visit this year, each one for the same doctor. He changed my meds all around, took me off of beef and wheat, and gave me some other suggestions. I don't feel bad about three visits to the same doctor when two of 'em are just checking up on my condition and seeing if I'm still doing all right.
I'll be seeing my regular doc later this month but that appointment was set up back in November. Next month I go see my rheumatologist. I've made sure to schedule the appointment for BEFORE the pain in my hips starts getting too bad for me to get around. It usually takes about two months to get in, but it takes 10 months for the shots to wear off. I got smart and scheduled the next set of shots for 10 months after I got the last shots. I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. XD

Hey, I can FIND stuff, it's just that things end up here, y'know?
Hubby needed something to use by HIS computer, I told him that I had one back in the sewing room and told him where to find it. He got it, used it, then a few days later he bought his own version of it so he wouldn't have to use mine. Then, instead of taking the object BACK to the sewing room, he brought it into this room. I said "That's not where you got that." and he said, somewhat angrily "I'm not gonna leave it there!" Then he went to do something else in the room and forgot about the object altogether. It's still here a week later. I keep hoping he'll see it and say to himself "Oh, shit! I said I wasn't going to leave that there!" and move it, but no luck so far.
No, it's NOT all from him, but I can look around and find a bunch of stuff that he's done that with. It's a little bit crazy-making. We're both pack-rats.
Hahahaha! It's noon here now and that means the civil defense sirens are going off. The dogs are howling their fool heads off. It's beautiful.

All of a sudden, cleaning the cat fur out of my old ball mouse doesn't seem like it was so bad.

But on the bright side all that stuff is done now and I feel good about it. I just wish I didn't hurt so bad. Stupid back.

I recommend molasses, or anything that contains it: Rice Chex of Paul Newman's Ginger-Os, for example. Molasses erodes kidney stones. God knows why.
