Hotel room math?

Four people go on a trip. Two are married and share a bed. The married couple and one of the single people have pets and a pet fee is included in the room charges. The two unmarried people share a bed.

How should the bill be divided?

wtf

Per capita, including pet fee prorated by number of pets per owner.

Unless they aren't all sharing one door, in which case I have no idea what I'm being asked*.

(*The latter case reminds me of the riddle about the plane that crashes exactly on the border between two countries: are the survivors buried in the country they're leaving or the one they're going to?**)

(**In the case of some borders the correct answer is "Both".)

That's what I thought. Imagine my surprise/dismay when I was told they'd be dividing the bill in thirds after removing the pet fee. I asked why it wouldn't be in fourths and was told by the wife "because we're a couple" as she cloyingly leaned against her husband. I replied, pointing to the other person "We shared a bed. We might as well have been a couple." Then I got pissed off and left. I swear, if they hold me to one third of the bill I'm going to wash my hands of all of them.

Free trial period for Roman Judge services closes when this incarnation ends*.

Babies timeshared on request.

(*And may be the reason it does.)

Heh.

It's all sorted out, now. I did go off on someone to relieve my own stress over it all, and after a bit I apologized.

My world is made better with laughing, dancing, happy ferrets.
