Write a letter to anyone about anything.

Dear Holden,

What are you doing? What have you been doing? You spent spring breaks building relief shelters. You wanted to work for Greenpeace. You volunteered at the Upper Valley blood drives. Soup kitchens. Hospitals. Tutoring, mentoring, all that stuff. So. What are you doing now?

...In your spare time, I mean. Let's not get into work just yet.

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs a transfusion. Each 500 mL unit of blood can save three lives. Remember putting that on the posters, next to "Refreshments provided"? Yeah. Think about that for a sec. Feeling guilty?

No? Ten units and a dead body every night. Still nothing?

Remember school? Remember picking a major? Psych or bio--but who wants to work with bodily fluids? I mean, it's perfectly reasonable to be a little squeamish about blood, right? Right. That's beside the point. Why did you study psych? What did you want to do after graduation? Did you want to work for a law firm? Maybe an EVIL law firm? Maybe that would be fun. Sedation always works better than counseling, of course. Right? Drugs make sure little girls stay nice and complacent so the cuts are neat and straight. Nothing unnecessary.

Do you feel bad at all? Seriously now. Not even a twinge? Well Mr. Hypocrite, would you say that's a cause for concern? Not entirely psychologically sound, maybe?

Still watching,

Holden
