Emily, you are not being selfish, and you are not whining. you have every right to be upset. i think that people have this idea that parents are always there for you and are reliable and dependable and responsible, and well, what parents are SUPPOSED to be like. but the sad reality is that they're not always like that. i'm sorry things aren't going well with your mom and your sister. and just so you know, i think the kid should always be more important than the boyfriend, and it sucks soooo much when that isn't the case. (my mother did that to me this summer) so i understand. you're not alone. i hope things get better! <3 kristen
This is written a bit after you wrote that, but such is being abroad. No, you are not being selfish! It sounds like you have a very parental roll in your relationship with both of your parents, which isn't a fair burden to put on your shoulders. I'm completely on my own too, but I take comfort in knowing that my parents are there as parents, just in case. (My dad asked me not to beg on the streets if I run out of money on this trip, but to call him instead....ha ha. He really thought I was gonna beg on the streets!) Anyways, what you are asking is reasonable. I also hate it when someone puts me second or doesn't keep a promise, and it would be especially hard with family. Good luck with all that babe!
