Amy, as you can see I am not the only one who feels this way. I just think it's ridiculous that people think he is EVERYTHING! I never said 'anyone that likes him is a bunny' or whatever. This is just me stating my annoyance with the 'Holy one,' in my own journal, for that matter. I happen to know for a fact that not ALL Sid fans are bunnies. Therefore, I would never say that. But, he isn't EVERYTHING okay? I mean, people need to realize that there are other players/teams/etc. who are better. Because there are.
Lizi, I can understand what you're saying. Yeah, I love Sid, been following him since his juniors career, but the Sidney Crosby Show gets overwealming a lot of the time -- to the point that it alienates a lot of fans. Heck, I nominated him for biggest whiner! God love him, he used to whine a lot.
Pens fans are rabid, and, I'm sorry to say this, but a lot of teenaged Pens fans see him and are just *OMG SINDEEEEEE CROSBEEE!** which is one of the most annoying things in life. Is he talented? Yeah, I don't think you were denying that. But is he god? No -- even though I voted for him doing no wrong on the ice -- in my eyes, at least.
Sorry this is causing you so much drama. The comm. is supposed to be fun, and I hope it returns to be that way soon! **hugs**
Oh, one more thing I wanted to tell you -- There are a lot of awesome teams in the NHL, and the other leagues, and I think that sometimes everyone focuses too much on Pgh/Sid. I can see how it would drive others crazy. I think a lot of us Pens girls love other teams too -- like me, I love the rangers and the thrashers a lot, and the bruins -- we're talking about going up to Boston for a few games this season!
I wasn't saying anything against mature Pens fans who are willing to admit that he is not one of those people who can do no wrong in anything, like, ever. I'll admit that he is a good player. But I really, really don't think he ranks up with, like, Joe Sakic or Brendan Shanahan. YET. I just think that all this focus on a player as young as he is, this soon, might send him crashing, you know? And it does get aggravating when you see the rest of the young, skilled players on the ice who don't get nearly as much attention as he does. Take, for instance (and yes, I know that I am pretty much his evangelist, but) Patrice Bergeron. He is 578397583927 different kinds of amazing. But whenever Sidney Crosby is mentioned, it's like he is the only player in the league. I don't HATE Sidney. Really. I just don't worship the ice he skates on

Believe me, I understand. I HATE HATE HATE the teenyboppers. The ones who can't see past Crosby. Right now, he's playing like the great ones, but seriously, sometimes it is too much. As a Pens fan and a long-time Crosby fan, I worry that it's going to make him crash. My only hope is that it helps market the game to bring it into the top four sports in the country.
And as Kojo and I were saying today, Bergy is 59000000 kinds of love. He and Kessel are my favorite Bruin boys!
Lizi, I love your community, and if i ever, EVER do anything to piss you off on it, please let me know, mainly because i heart it more than ANY community there is, its given me a whole new world of hockey friends and has helped me learn more about the sport itself.
As much as I love Sid the Kid, I know this sounds wrong and ridiculous, but nowadays I cannot like him as much as I used to because now everyone and their mommas all love him to death and worship him to the ground like he's some hockey god. For goodness sakes he's only human being. He's an excellent player and everything, but there are other hockey players out there who are just as talented as he is who deserve as much recognition as him. Even my Kings posts get overshadowed by the whole Crosbyness

Sidney Crosby is not God. Not even God of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
That title still belongs to Mario Lemieux, and always will in my heart.
Yeesh. Please. Less Pens fans. And that is coming from a True Pens fan.
