Doctor Who is my happy place today in the face of unhappy. Thoughts on fanfiction for tomorrow, but right now I am talking about Vampires of Venice and there are spoilers below the cut.
How much do I love the Doctor? I love the Doctor! Eleven keeps wanting people to join him and being happy when they do. Eleven saying yes to Rory!
Honestly, when a friend and I IM our way through the episode it's mostly both of us saying I LOVE HIM at each other.
I was worried that Rory would come out like Mickey, but he didn't, which is fantastic. It seemed like he would in the previews--telling the Doctor how dangerous he is combined with how Eleven was talking to him in The Eleventh Hour. But then Rory did his research and joined in the adventuring and was useful and wanted to come traveling with them. And Rory and Amy are adorable together. I want them to stay in the TARDIS a long time. It's about time we had more than one companion and/or a male companion. Plus, I would really really love it if Amy and Rory had a kid and then there were family adventures in time with crazy Uncle Doctor. :)
And I really liked that this episode was fun. Moffat's writing is fun too, but it was nice that it wasn't too complicated or timey-wimey. I don't have many questions or theories about this episode, I just sat back and laughed at the Doctor being hilariously awkward. (I love that intro to bits. I've been rewatching it all day.)
Plus steampunk Doctor in a swingy chair under the console with goggles. What's not to love?
