Completely adorable.

The Doctor playing football--"I love this game!" Of course he does, he gets lots of attention and bellyrubs! He's basically a giant puppy. A giant, adorable puppy.

I love seeing episodes like this; I love knowing that the Doctor keeps the sonic next to his toothbrush or that he's a slapdash, but fantastic cook. Little, everyday things that you never see in a show like Doctor Who and how the Doctor does it all a little sideways. I also enjoyed the moments where he took the cue wrong and obviously thought there was a social requirement--moments like "Do I have to stay now?" and "I have to eat a biscuit." Not "I want to eat a biscuit" but "have to."

Incidentally, I think my favorite line is the Doctor yelling "Yes, perfect! What a beauty!" from behind the door. Something about the way he delivers it coupled with the scuffling noises cracks me up.

Though I am wondering just how much of this episode is supposed to stand alone. It certainly seems that it's meant to be self contained, but there's so much that isn't explained or that sounds like it could be relevant to the series arc that I'm suspicious. Things like "the correct pilot" and the fact that the alien ship was supposed to be a TARDIS. You'd think that would be a big deal, but it isn't commented on at all. So I'm wondering how much of this episode will play into the next two, if at all. And what's up with the numbers? They didn't even attempt to explain them at all. Which I'm normally not terribly annoyed at, given the nature of the show, but they seemed important.

EDIT: Oh and. Given the number of times this series that I thought the Doctor was lying, I'd like to point out that once Craig had all the information on of the things he asked was whether the Doctor was lying. And the Doctor admitted it. I can't tell yet if I think this is a characterization choice or if it'll be important later. Maybe.

I rewatched Vincent and the Doctor with a friend this weekend and noticed that the scene of Amy and the Doctor in the museum at the end was shot almost identically to the scene when they take Vincent to the museum....only without Vincent. Oh god, so sad.
