Fic Rec, Skins US, Gen 3, and my spiritual godfather, Geofrey Boycott

So, I am glad that the time I have no can be spend with you guys squeeing over new Skins stuff. Let's face it; I'm not part of any other fandom and I doubt I will again. It's exhausting to like a show as much as I like Skins. I don't want to ever become this invested in a show again. Eventually even great shows begin to decline and all you have ( Read more... )

skins ftw, fic rec, ashes ftw

Thank you for the fic rec. I am planning to read all the Big Bang stories, but so far this is proceeding at snail's pace (3.5 down, how many to go?) You've really sold this one to me, though.

(PS: just to let you know, you've got some screwy linking going on in this post.)

Thank you for the fic rec

No problem. This work was my favorite Big Bang story and also one of my favorite works in fandom. It makes me sad when good stories are ignored. She's put all this effort in and has recieved very little recognition. I do have a vested interest in this story becoming well known. I think she's planning to do an Emily themed sequel which I am DYING to read. So you know, I wouldn't mind the author recieveing more ~encouragement~ to keep writing ;)

I saw your last post and I just wanted to ask; are you a Naomily fan anymore or did s4 ruin their dynamic for you? If so, I'll try and bear that in mind when recommending fics for you to read (I still love them but I understand they're a not a couple for everyone.)

It didn't ruin them for me at all; I love them as much as ever, maybe more. It's just that both S3 and S4 together were such an emotional rollercoaster - and, like so many people, I was so invested - that sometimes watching them together is really hard for me to relive. Does that sound melodramatic? I sometimes have this with storylines I'm really invested in (like Torchwood CoE, for example, or Cristina/Burke in Grey's Anatomy) - I enjoy them a lot, but for a good while it's a bit too intense for me to go back to when it's over.

I can still read about them, though I am a bit pickier about the fics I read. But watching clips or rewatching the show needs processing/cuddling!

Sorry, twisty, but Lost Girl is awful

GUTTED.

;)

Plus, and I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think there will be any gay this series. Perhaps an examination of gender, but nothing outright homosexy. So, gen three has to work even harder to maintain my interest.

I agree. JB sort implied there may be gay, sort of, but I am skeptical. I would really, REALLY like to see a girl like Mini turn out to be gay -- her heterosexuality is SO over the top and apparently she's lying about sleeping with her boyfriend. Idk, it just makes me think ~repressed homo~, but I don't know if Skins writers (THIS group of writers, anyway) would be clever enough to come up with something like that.

And yes, a gay boy (or boys) would be nice too, because visibility is always good, but I sadly am not very interested in gay males. There's that whole ... male aspect about them. I might find them cute and even ship them, but I certainly wouldn't be scrambling to write fic, you know? I just don't care all that much ( ... )

omg my eyes T. How am I to read this font? I'm old, dude.

Speaking of old, lets talk boycott. I've got to admitt, when he was waxing lyrical about Cook, it did bring a small tear of joy to my eye. Finally, a batsman who does what boycott says and sticks around forever! All those years of chuntering on about it paid off clearly. I'm not a gloating pom, we still have weaknesses, but it was nice to wake up to good news for once, rather than bad.

I'm almost as old as you are. I get tired around 11 o'clock these days. Some people have been asking if I've been out clubbing since I've been in Sydney and I'm all like "LOlllllll. No. That sounds awful ( ... )

I'll definitely watch because I have a tendency to stick with shows, but I have more faith in BE than JB. Plus, Skins US has one really big advantage over Gen3: TEA!!! That girl is hot! Man, the gen 3 kids are what, 17 ish? I'm in my twenties, so yeah, I've got a case of the lecherous old lady as well. To be fair I don’t actually want to finger bang any of the gen 3 ladies and also, Sofia is 19, right? If she's over the age of consent it's kosher. And like, whatever, I don't ever lust after actors. Jus the characters. This is my justification when I read any Naomi/Emily or Tea/anybody with a vagina smut *shrug* I'm not as committed to either of the new gens, thank god, so spending only a couple hours a week being distracted by hot ladies sounds pretty fabulous to me ( ... )
