With McCain as our candidate, I can kind of understand. Do you vote for the black liberal or the white one?

Stop that.

You vote for the troops. And a vote for McCain is a vote for the troops. We may not be able to keep him on the Right Path all the time, but we can certainly honor our Armed Forces by electing a guy who honors them. Ditto for our Constitution by supporting a guy who didn't vote against Roberts or Alito.

Obama will certainly give us liberal SCOTUS justices, and disastrous results with his Iraq policies as proposed.

"fear that Obama is the last chance for a black president to be elected"

Interesting observation she's made. If anything, having Obama run is a sign that there can be more blacks running for high offices. Even if he loses. I liked her post.

I think the same thing could have been said about Hillary. Gotta vote for her because she has ovaries and who know when we'll get another shot at a female in the oval office.

Bah. I hate this racist - feminist crap. The exterior is all that matters. Vote now. We'll *look* good. We'll be able to mark off another "achievement" on the list of What Must Be Done to Prove We are Equal.

I think that's exactly right.

Yeah, I think every political party should have a black candidate . Some of my best friends are black. hahahahahaha ... GMAB, Obama is a Bubble Head, a dangerous Bubble Head, A possible communist, definitely a socialist and maybe even a radical Muslim waiting until he is elected to announce his loyalty to Bin Laden. I hope you have gone to K-Mart already for your collection of Head Scarfs, for should Obama be elected president you will most likely have to pay a hefty premium for them. :D

*** At best, Obama is a Black Jimmy Cater.

I think this is something folks are just not getting...

Stop thinking selfishly. We're not choosing a President of Black American Dream Fulfillment; we're choosing a President of the United States.

Too many people will vote just on that theory, that Obama is some sort of fullfillment of The Dream, not on whether he's really going to do a good job or not.

Exactly right. Stop looking at his skin, and start listening to his words and his heart.

Once people do, the effect should be like a shattered mirror.

Precisely. I've been saying for the longest time that I'm not voting for principle. I'm voting for President. I want the history books to show that we prevailed in the War on Terror and brought on the first steps towards peaceful democracy in Iraq- not that we just voted in a black guy.

Feel free to call the Sanitarium if I ever go THAT soft in the head and vote for the black guy over the best guy, especially if the two aren't one and the same.

If I want to help a black guy win the White House, he'd better sound a lot like me, or like Michael Steele of MD. J.C. Watts, if properly quoted, has disappointed me.

What did Watts do or say?

From the article itself:

J.C. Watts, a former Oklahoma congressman who once was part of the GOP House leadership, said he's thinking of voting for Obama. Watts said he's still a Republican, but he criticizes his party for neglecting the black community. Black Republicans, he said, have to concede that while they might not agree with Democrats on issues, at least that party reaches out to them.

"And Obama highlights that even more," Watts said, adding that he expects Obama to take on issues such as poverty and urban policy. "Republicans often seem indifferent to those things."

O_o What a shame. So instead of being patient and waiting for the RIGHT black candidate, he's going to sacrifice some of his ideals to get a black guy in office?

I'm intrigued with the idea of a woman as POTUS, but certainly not sHrillary.

How disappointing.
