Pretty much yeah, i've looked back at things i've posted and thought "wtf was wrong with me" many times.

Someone's journal, especially those which are not actually private, seem to be the worst possible representation of themselves. I can't imagine how annoying people must think that I am, based solely on my journal.
Also, everyone "fails at the opposite sex", unavoidably. It just takes some people longer to admit when they've in fact failed. So don't get too down about it.
