Sunlight peeked out through the clouds occasionally, hitting the still-bright white paint of the Furuhata's sign of the shop. Inside, things were relatively quiet

Uncertain of where to go, Xigbar decided that he'd take a bit of a break. This was also known as "hey, I'm not sure what I should do yet, so I'll leave before anybody tells me." Nobody could say that he was slacking off if they didn't talk to him first.
Grinning, he wandered around, until he came to Motoki's shop. He looked in through the window, bored out of his mind. Hey, why not? Might as well bug the locals.
So Xigbar entered, and glanced around the place. The first thing he did when he approached the counter was to look into the tank. He then looked at Motoki, raising an eye.
"Isn't there some sort of law against keeping animals in a store," he said, deadpan. Xigbar had absolutely no idea what he would do if the guy took him seriously, but hey, it'd take up some time!
Customers! Motoki's mood picked up when he heard the tell-tale jingle of the front door sound. One last polish of the armor display, and the cheerful shopkeeper walked over to his customer. "Hello, welcome to Furuhata's! Best supply store in this sector! Howe can I help you?" A cheerful smile graced his face, making him look almost innocent.
However, he frowned slightly when his customer asked about his turtle. Sticking a hand into the tank, Motoki covered what he supposed were turtle ears. "Kamekichi isn't just some animal. He's really smart." That wasn't just opinion either! "And since I don't let people eat in here, I can have whatever I want on the counter." It wasn't like people would lick the outside of the wine bottles or something dumb like that. That would be the only way he could get in trouble over Kamekichi.
Xigbar stared at Motoki for several seconds before a large grin crossed his face. "Heh. I was just kiddin', kid. I don't care if ya have a turtle or a chocobo. It ain't my business."
He looked around the room, noting the various things here. Certainly a nice variety. Perhaps he would buy some stuff later.
