Accomplishments are quite overrated, in my opinion. By all means, try to improve the lives of those around you, leave your corner of the world better than you found it, a life well lived is a life well lived. But our society, and probably the society of the entire "first world", is built around an immense and inherently harmful system whose entire purpose is to keep most people busy and to create wealth for a select few, and we've been conditioned, quite successfully, to believe that if we're not a part of that system, if we're not producing, if we're not accomplishing, if we're not working hard and contributing our innovation and determination to generate wealth and build the American Dream for an employer, then we're nothing.

It's patently false.
