whoa... it sounds like they definitely replaced all the carpet. do you know the square footage? jess was quoted somewhere around $4-500 to clean nearly $1k sq ft of carpets in the townhouse. that is lame =[

yeah, man, landlords can be total shits. i never leave an apartment anymore w/out shampooing the carpets myself. it's like 30 bucks to rent a rug-cleaner from the grocery store and it's worth it since they always always overcharge on cleaning.

def! instead of paying to have it done professionally we did half of it ourselves and he only ended up paying like $2-300 to have the rest done. it is super easy and much cheaper.

yeah, unfortunately, i have a feeling that even if I had done that, they STILL would have hired a cleaning company to come and STILL charge me.

I've been getting quotes from local carpet cleaners based off the square footage of the apartment and they've ranged from $165-$350, nothing close to the $675 the apartment's company is charging.

I have a meeting with the property manager on Friday to look at the receipes from the cleaners and discuss the bill they sent me. You can bet I'm going to bring the estimates from the other carpet cleaners with me.

You know that's going to be on your permanent record. There is now a big red stamp "CARPET STAINER".

Yeah I was expecting to be charged for cleaning, but I was also expecting that my security deposit would have covered it, at most be charged an extra $100. Not an extra $455
grrrr.
