I always understand your marginalized comments Nathy - and this is no exception.

Haven't been in the mood to actually 'say' anything recently, but my angst at this story is simply this:

Man, woman, dog, cat, horse, cow, chicken, fish - I don't give a good god damn. Let the power structure flow which ever way it may (as it always does): Rape is rape. Hurt is hurt, pain is pain. Grey areas to degree and causation (yeah, grey!) but it's there.

This is one area where I don't waver - however unreasonably.

Rape is rape, hurt is hurt, quite agree.

Instance with the dog, not cool..just wanted to reinterate that statement in case my previous comments were "misunderstood" like usual.

I watched Law and ORder last night (becoming a ritual). Kevin Arnold from the Kevin loves Winnie days, was accused of multiple rapes.

All I could see was Ben Savage being wrongfully accused while his friend Paul and Winnie were no where to be seen.

I found myself cheering for the accuser b/c I am still typecasting him as the Wonder Years dude.

maybe that was the whole point of the show...to make us question the people that "look normal" or have attractive "baby faces".

Studies say that defendents with "baby faces" are more likely to get acquitted than those with less attractive, less symetrical faces.

All this to say, I was half expecting an evil twin story, or hoping for it.

women have orgasmed during rape but that does not mean they enjoyed it or consented.

and 13 year olds can say yes but more often than not they are rather uninformed 13 year olds. it would be one thing if he was 13 too, but he isn't. he knows more and by default that creates an uncomfortable power struggle.

that was just a sad story. sigh. i need to go shower and try to make myself clean now.
