I also use Opera - sometimes it helps if you delete all cookies (at Preferences->Advanced->Cookies->Manage cookies) and start anew. Of course make sure that you have "Accept cookies" on. Concerning LJ, it also has a security option - "bind your cookie to IP" or something - which you have to keep off for being able to login automatically.
Technical question, I think Kees may know the answer to this one cause he is familiar with Opera: A while ago my compy (or my Opera, beats me) decided to forget what Cookies are for. Now I have to log in to Hotmail, photobucket and livejournal every morning. How come it does not remember my usernames and passwords anymore? o_O
This is not a cookie problem, this is a Wand problem. In the Tools / Preferences screen (Ctrl-F12) there is a tab called Wand. It has a checkbox "Let the Wand remember passwords". You probably unchecked that box by accident and then Opera will not enter site passwords anymore. Check the box and it should work again.
