My latest annoyance has been a mate who, despite me mentioning constantly that never have credit in my phone and him letting me use him when he's around, he still doesnt get that I can't call him. Yet I still get messages asking me to :/

Agreeing with the above here, get the same thing too. Only person reliable call wise with me is Lee.
Everyone I know knows that I never have any credit in my phone yet alot of people text me with questions thus I can't reply.
