Behold the Supertheory!

O HAI GUYS! *pokes head out like a bb meerkat*

I haven't talked much about Ashes to Ashes this series because, well because I was rather uninspired by the first two eps. :/ I did not like what I was seeing since what I was seeing looked suspiciously like Life on Mars. (Except worse, right? Cuz of that ookie Keeley Hawes being all up in thar instead ( Read more... )

ashes to ashes, meta

Brilliant ideas! If this isnt the direction the show takes I really hope they at least have something to that level of interconnectedness.

I think I need to go back and rewatch series 1 of A2A and look for the little details!

Yeah well we know that they want to connect the two shows, imo this is just the most brilliant and seemingly possible way for them to do it and have it remain really cool and not super mystical.

OMG S1 is chock full of details! *is excited for you*

Oh gosh, Gene as the jailer REALLY reminds me of a book. That, I think, has a plot similar to this. Or, at least being locked in your own mind. CRAP. I can't remember it, and it's going to drive me nuts. Especially as it might actually be useful.

This theory though? LOVE. I was never terribly fond of The Theory, but I like this so much more. It's darker, and ties SO well into LoM.

Plus, it could have some serious implications with Doctor Death.

Maybe you can google it, lol? I believe you that it exists. :)

I'm glad you like it! I certainly LOVE IT. (Gonna be so sad if they fail at making it come true! Meep.) The darkness of it and the connection to LoM really makes me do squee noises. And the fact that it ties together with Dead Molly. Btw, can I ask what irks you about The Theory? Not dark enough? ;)

OMG YES! I can't wait to get some more clues and really get his piece in place. I mean all the antagonizing baddies like the Bowie Clown and Doctor Death are essentially triggers to snap Alex back to reality, and as she can't go there, or doesn't want to go there, Gene rescues her to keep her "safe." So there's that. But I'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Although I could see the whole Alex is going crazy because Molly died I never really bought the suicide part in the Supertheory. But now that you mention that Gene always tells both Sam and Alex they requested it, it makes perfect sense.

I'm so glad lostcointoss had the genius to put together the Supertheory. It's a brilliant anticipation of what could be revealed in S3 of A2A. And I think it's not too hard for them to accomplish. I always thought it was interesting how both Sam and Alex gravitated to requesting the transfers to Gene's police station. Very curious. ;)

Oh noes! Well I'm glad you found it in the end. :)

Supertheory is HARDCORE AWESOME! I love it so much cuz it's all BOOYAH! IN UR FACE! Want 3x08, too. Too bad we have to wait an infinity for it again! Bah. Beeb.

Strangely, I felt that A2A 2x03 was more like LoM than the first two eps. It even had some LoM music! Which I did not like, because BLEH, NO. Doesn't mean that the ep wasn't awesome, though ♥
REALLY?! I just felt no connection to 1-2 at all. Maybe it's because I thought Alex was a little off in terms of character. There was no way she would be forgetting Molly suddenly when the week before she was seeing her. And then the weeafk ter she's totes fine and dandy as well. So ep 2 failed on that. And ep 1 looked horribly like LoM. Soes Not Want! Blech.

(and I still miss Caroline Price :( )
OMG YANA! I just saw her in a play and had to bite my fist from screaming out "Eeee! CAROLINE PRICE ILU!" I miss Alex's fam. I miss her missing them. I wish there was some sort of emotional spark when she saw the bomb go off in 2x03. Not ( ... )

You mean, in ten years when we'll all have gone slightly mad from the speculating and paranoid from the clues-that-are-in-fact-just-random-things and, well, old? Yeah. *wibbles*
THIS!!! EXACTLY THIS!!!!! IT'S ALL MEANINGLESS, ISN'T IT! IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER WHAT COLOR PHONE ALEX HAS IN HER HOUSE AFTER ALL! AAAAAAAAH! CRY!!!! (lulz)

I was blinded by the Alex/Gene, which is a very strong possibility *shifty eyes*
Ah. Right-o. Then I think it's time to stand up and say that, "My name is HWG and I am kinda not a shipper. I mean I like them, but one can't really be a true shipper if the idea of seeing Gene Hunt's moobs again squicks one, right?" *runs away*

I was willing to buy that she was forgetting things because of the bullet in her head doing some damage, so even if she tried her best not to forget Molly she still would because it would completely be outside her control.I just remember Keeley mentioning that "Alex will forget Molly's name" and I was ALL OVER THAT DRAMA! I couldn't wait for it and I thought it would be this ( ... )

Hmm, I wasn't buying that Sam initially killed himself, but you're right they did put in for it.

That's all kinds of chilling.

My only concern is that it means that Sam never wakes up from his coma and therefore never sends the tapes to Alex. That seems like a lot of stuff to retcon.

Still, I like the basic premise of it. I disagreed with the idea that Gene created Mac in order to bring Alex closer to him, but I do like that in a certain light Gene becomes the bad guy. It's ties in with my idea that Gene is sort of mirroring Annie on this show.

Must think on this. Yes.

Well the thing is, I'm not sure we made it clear enough, but it's that both Alex and Sam ATTEMPT suicide. Not actually do it. That's why Alex is feeling the paddles and stuff, that's why Sam was in a coma. He wakes up from it, does the whole shebang with the tapes, and then jumps off the roof of the building and finishes the job. So same with Alex. She shot herself, yes, but right now in 2008, she's Not Quite Dead yet.

Honestly, I haven't given Gene as much thought as I give to Alex and Sam because ( ... )

The thing is I almost feel like he can't wake up if he's attempted suicide because I can't believe he'd be able to go back to work that fast. Maybe I just need to adjust the time-line a bit more in my head. I like the double suicide idea, I really do. I just have to work it out in my head a little more ( ... )

Well I think he wouldn't be able to go back to work that fast after having a brain operation either, but it was done. Obviously they didn't care about certain realities that much and took some artistic liberties. Hey they made him get counseling, so there's something to suggest his suicide attempt. (Though it would be his word against the person who hit him, and he could have easily lied and said he never stepped out in front of that car.)

I view him in relation to them instead of as himself. He has been v Annie to me since the beginning of A2A and the show has been leaning towards him being an actual independent character, so I'm trying to look at him differently. I like the idea that he is a bit gray. That he could be good- Alex doesn't have the ability to survive in the real world so he's keeping her safe, or he could be bad- he wants her to forget her life so that he can use her for some ( ... )
