I love both Olivias! I mean, I obviously am more fond of Ourlivia and rooting for her all the way but I love Altlivia too. I love that moment in the gif. Exactly what you said about it, exactly! I don't think she's callous either, I think she's a soldier. And, exactly as soldiers are in ever war (and not just soldiers, the population at large is too but that's a tangent!) she has been brainwashed to think of the people in Bluniverse as, what was it? "Devils in our skin"? Or something like that? She dehumanises them and she's only now starting to see them as people like her, that she could care about. (This is a Thing for me, okay? Good guys/bad guys dichotomies I do not approve of in fiction [but I will always forgive everything of Leverage so they can use those words and only cause mild discomfort in my soul /tangent!] and despise in non-fiction [the Axis of Evil is the single most ridiculous expression I have ever heard, truth.])

This comment is weird. It's late. I love Fringe. Anna Torv is amazing. And I love the quote you chose!

LOL YOU GOT SO DEEEEEP! But yes, exactly what you said. What's great about all the alt-verse characters is that they are not one-note, and they shouldn't be especially since we're spending so much time developing them. They're complicated just like our side, and thankfully we are seeing them evolve like they should.

Btdubs, I read you use of "dehumanises" as DUNHAMISES! Word.

Because she looks at the door, she checks to make sure Newton isn't there to see her moment of weakness, before saying "I'm sorry" and pulling the trigger. And I believe her. So many people have seen this moment as somewhat callous, but I think it's extremely genuine and transparent. This is a girl who does because she is told and she doesn't think of the consequences. Suddenly she is in charge and responsible and now she feels it like a leader.

Oooh, I never thought of that before but it makes so much sense! Our Olivia is much more of a detective that wants to take care of people and since the Alt!Verse is much more militarized, Faux!Livia is more of a soldier who is told not to question her superiors or her orders. I'd noticed it when Lincoln called our Olivia 'bossy' but I hadn't really put it together that Faux!Livia would be more hesitant, letting Walter make the first observation at the crime scene.

Man, this show and it's continual capacity to BLOW MY MIND!

YUP! I'm so glad they kept the consistency of both Olivia's and their natures at a crime scene. Fabulous, fabulous stuff! I mean everything they're doing with them is like that tho. Just so many little significant differences. HAPPY SIGH!
