Frequently Asked Questions

What is a bigbang?
There are many different types of bigbangs, all varying slightly, but generally a bigbang challenge is where over a period of 3-4 months (some are longer) authors write a complete (10,000, 15,000, or 20,000 words) story and artists then claim that story to make customized art for.

I'm going backpacking for the whole of August, but would quite like to sign up as a writer. Would it be possible to send my finished fic in to you early before I go away?

Hey! I was thinking of signing up to write the sequel to another story I've written, but I don't want to mess up the artist claiming process if you think that'll cause problems. Are the claims anonymous? I"m not sure it'd be fair to have someone sign up for mine and then be told "Oh, by the way, you might want to read this other longfic first."

Has that worked for anyone in the past, and do you think it'd be problematic?

Claims are anoymous as far as authors identities go but writing a sequel is completely fine. Just when its time include in your fic information that fact that is a sequel to a previous fic and artists may need to read that to know whats going on.

In the big bangs I've modded I've seen fics be sequels and I've never seen a problem with it on the artist's end.

So should artists post their art in a month's time after their claim?

Artists have more than a month to do the art for the story they claim, they post on the posting date they get with their author.
