artist & fanmix sign-up post!

Mar 02, 2010 14:49

This’ll be the post where the artists AND fanmixers sign up! It’s really simple--just leave a comment with the number of the summary and like, an “I claim this!” statement. More than one artist or fanmixer can claim the same story, and one artist or fanmixer can claim up to TWO stories.
Also, in your comment, please indicate if you are willing to pinch-hit or not. It’s not an obligation, but it would be nice! This post will continue until March 16.
One last note: these are TENTATIVE SUMMARIES. A few things might change. I leave that to the artist and author to work out amongst themselves, if it occurs. Also, I removed the author names from the summaries, as to prevent bias and on the recommendation of a friend. ALSO: please indicate whether you are an artist or a fanmixer in your comment. The artist's/fanmixer's sign-up post is now CLOSED!

1. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: After returning from the war, Watson wasn’t introduced to Holmes. Instead, his gambling took him on a downward spiral, and with his spirits and morale down and his wallet empty, he turned to crime of the dazzle-them-drug-them-leave-them variety. The delicacy of the matter leads to his victims - married women and rich men - calling on Holmes rather than on the police. Which is how Holmes and Watson meet. Since Holmes is somewhat fascinated by this well-educated gentleman criminal who clearly took a wrong turn somewhere, who reminds him a little of an early version of Irene Adler, Holmes offers Watson a deal: Watson puts himself under Holmes’ surveillance, returns the stolen goods and lends his medical expertise to Holmes’ pursuits; in return, Holmes won't turn Watson in.
At first, Watson doesn’t know Holmes very well; he seeks to manipulate Holmes by coming onto him, trying to find Holmes’ weak spots so he can exploit them and continue his gambling life unhindered, but Holmes doesn’t trust Watson enough to let him that close, and anyway, it doesn’t take too long for the whole thing to give Watson a new direction. Slowly, they learn to trust each other.
Also, there is jealousy! Watson met Irene at a party because they both work the same crowd, so to speak, and he's always admired her. But then she shows up at 221B one day and the obvious fact that she has a shared past with Holmes does not sit well with Watson. At all. And Holmes notices, of course, and he plays it up because it's a welcome diversion, a way to keep Watson oblivious to Holmes' growing affections. In addition, it gives Holmes an easy excuse to fend off Watson's advances. Because Holmes finds that it's increasingly hard to resist those advances.
Yes. The working title of this is decidedly not Crimes of Passion, thank you very much. Rating will be R or NC-17, and I hope I can get this done in less than 30’000 words, but it isn’t particularly likely. CLAIMED by wheres_walnut (artist) and gardinha (fanmix).

3. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Present-day city college AU. Sherlock Holmes is a 3rd year student without a major, without a purpose, who missed the housing applications and badly needs a roommate. John Watson just got discharged from the army because of a leg wound, and he plans to start medical school. He also badly needs a roommate.
So it's a Study in Scarlet story, only the plot is completely different, and Holmes isn't an independent investigator yet, he's just this kid who likes to hang around crime scenes and reads too many thriller novels (annoying the heck out of junior officer Lestrade, who would really like to do real police work but keeps getting told to 'get that guy out of here', which is no mean feat.) John is trying to reconnect with his previously long-distance girlfriend Mary, who has grown up while he was off serving and he doesn't quite recognize anymore.
This is all sort of nice and funny and all right, until a real mystery gets shoved right under their noses, and Holmes won't let them push him away this time.
(Also making an appearance are Mycroft, John's alcoholic goodfornothing brother Henry, criminal justice major and trombonist Stanley Hopkins, Irene almost-Norton Adler, and of course, Holmes's suspiciously wealthy astronomy professor.) CLAIMED by discorex (artist).

***

4. Pairing: Blackwood/Coward
Summary: A story of their friendship and their animosity, from their meeting, through the film and after. (It is seriously very, very complex and yet the plot is really rather simple.) Probably will be done in 20-25k, hopefully won't take me much more. CLAIMED by admiralmizaki (fanmix).

5. Pairing: None
Summary: Holmes is semi-retired and inclined to stay that way when Victor Callahan of Special Branch knocks on his door and requests his help with a case of murder and suspected treason. Holmes agrees to investigate only under protest, after Callahan appeals to his puzzle-solving mind more than his patriotism. As the case progresses, it takes Holmes to some very dark places in his own life, and the detective becomes more and more erratic while Watson is powerless to help him. Feat: Victor Callahan, a fictional Special Branch chief, Miss Katherine, his paramour, and the shadow of Professor Moriarty. Explores the relationship between Holmes and Moriarty.
CLAIMED by crystic (artist).

6. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Watson and Holmes experience reincarnation and go through several lifetimes together, though Watson is the only one who remembers. In the present day, they meet again - Watson as a police detective and Holmes as a young genius who worms his way into an investigation. Watson, who has borne the weight of their relationship over the years, struggles with their reconciliation and his feelings for Holmes. The frame of the story will take place in the present day, with glimpses of their previous lives woven throughout.
NOTE: My sign-up is tentative! I am pretending that I have not signed up, so as not to scare my excitement and creativity into hiding. CLAIMED by reallycorking (artist) and tjwritter (fanmix).

7. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: BASED ON THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE PROMPT FROM THE KINKMEME.WHEN A STRANGE ILLNESS SWEEPS LONDON AND TURNS THE CITY'S POPULATION INTO A MASS OF MINDLESS, RAVENOUS CANNIBALS, HOLMES AND WATSON MUST ONCE AGAIN RELY ON EACH OTHER FOR THEIR VERY SURVIVAL.
FEATURING: FLESH-EATING. UST. ANGST. ZOMBIES. CLAIMED by mspotamus (artist) and fallsaddles (fanmixer).

8. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: AU. After returning from the war, John Watson had managed to establish a perfectly normal, respectable life with a practice that, while not quite thriving, had paid his rent and kept him in his neighbours' good graces. Then came the criminal mastermind through the window with the bullet in his leg and the diamond heist stuck in limbo and, no matter what Watson said, he kept coming back. Watson never intended to become an accessory to international crime, but Sherlock Holmes was a man who always did exactly what he wanted, and it did not take long for Watson to realise that, once his problematic new friend let him in, there was really no getting out again.
Or, in short: that fic in which Holmes is a genius criminal, Watson is in a little over his head, and Victorian gentlemen do entirely ungentlemanly things for fun and profit. CLAIMED by wheres_walnut (artist).

***

9. Pairing: mostly gen, with some tentative Watson/Mark
Summary: "A Study in Scarlett": Modern-day, genderswapped AU. English major Jordan Watson isn't quite sure what she's in for when she finds out she's rooming next door to the enigmatic Shannon Holmes, a forensic chemistry major and amateur sleuth with a serious nicotine habit and a tendency for disappearing at all hours in various disguises. It becomes clear that there is much more to Holmes than it seems at first. Watson soon finds herself drawn to the handsome Mark Morgan, who comes to Holmes for advice when his internet mogul father disappears.
A sort of mash-up of The Sign of Four/A Study in Scarlet with a few other things thrown in, including modernized versions of other canonical characters. Probably PG-13/light R for language and violence. I've done other stories with these characters but nothing this long, so we'll see how this goes. CLAIMED by highonstargate (artist).

***

10. Pairing: Holmes/Irene with specks of Holmes/Watson
Summary: Holmes and Watson are in between cases at the moment, enjoying a bit of time at home. Hilarity ensues when Holmes gets a special type of his wonder drug which pulls him into a second life - one in the present day as Nathan Ford. It doesn't help that in his band of thieves is Irene Adler and Watson along with being up against Moriatry. It doesn't help that Holmes is going back and forth in time with nobody to really understand what is happening to him. All he needs to do is find out how to put it right. CLAIMED by mllesays (fanmix).

***

11. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, Perry/Harry
Summary: Sherlock Holmes x Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Crossover/Modern!AU. Holmes and Watson are hired by Scotland Yard to catch a London-based American kidnapping ring. Meanwhile, back in Los Angeles, Harry Lockhart has vanished. His boss/SO, Perry Van Shrike, is the only one who suspects foul play. Are the two cases related or are they just coincidence?
Rating will probably be at least R. I have no clue as to length. CLAIMED by foxwrapped (artist).

***

12. Pairing: Holmes/Watson bleeding into Watson/Morstan (and possibly Holmes/Adler)
Summary: A steampunk AU. In 1888, as King Edward VII lies dying, Holmes takes a case that leads him into direct conflict with a controversial but well-placed officer of His Majesty's Aery, to Scotland and back to London via the skies above. (And when Irene Adler, President Cleveland's best secret agent, shows up in Edinburgh with her own agenda, things get really interesting.) CLAIMED by darthneko (artist).

13. Pairing: Holmes/Watson and real historical couple
Summary: Within the first few years together.
A young handsome man comes to Holmes with a emotional case. He fears that someone will murder his mentor at his family's clan ball. Once Holmes and Watson hear the current clues this man holds, they believe that this is a very urgent case. They travel to the young man's family manor and find that their are too many secrets within the walls. With mentor's help, they also find that they have secrets between themselves as well that needed to be brought to light.
Will they be able to stop someone from pulling the trigger in enough time?
The teaser: The mentor is an infamous poet/playwright/author from that era.
Rating is R or NC-17 CLAIMED by pyromagnus (artist) and igrab (fanmix).

14. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Trying not to give too much away, I will admit it's a Sherlock Holmes/The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde crossover.
There is little challenge for Holmes in figuring out that Jekyll and Hyde are, in fact, the same man. The affair is necessarily hushed up after Jekyll's death, and that should have been the end of it...until Jekyll's notes and remaining chemicals disappear under suspicious circumstances. Now Holmes must not only discover who has taken a sudden interest in the late Doctor's research and to what purpose, but must work against the clock to develop an antidote before irreparable havoc is wreaked. CLAIMED by xpyne (artist).

***

15. Pairing: Holmes/Watson/Mary
Summary: After the events of the movie, Mary realizes that she's going to have to make a place for Holmes if she wants to have a peaceful marriage, and somehow along the way, she and Holmes end up accidentally seducing each other while Watson looks on in fond bemusement. CLAIMED by hikaru (fanmix).

***

16. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: In a steampunk AU Europe Holmes and Watson come up against a crazed Russian madman, who has perverted Marie Curie's recent scientific advances to create atomic horrors; expect dirigibles, steam powered robots, alternative history, and lots of swashbucking manly adventuring with teh sexeh. Tone will be darkish and angsty, with a side of roadtrippy goodness thrown in. CLAIMED by zephtastic (artist) and wtfbrain (fanmix).

***

17. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, Borden/Angier
Summary: Sherlock Holmes/The Prestige crossover. The rivalry between the two magicians has reached a dangerous level, so much so that Angier finally wants to end it once and for all. Knowing that Borden's weakness lies in his magic, he devises a plan to ruin him. His plan is to hire Holmes to discover and steal the secret to Borden's most beloved trick. But what happens if Angier is wrong? What if Borden's weakness isn't the magic but something or someone else entirely? Can Holmes figure it out before the rivalry destroys them both?
(There is a limit to how many rhetorical questions one person can fit in a cheesy monologue, and I think I have managed to surpass it. I apologize, and promise this is not as bad as it sounds.) CLAIMED by poseys_demise (artist).

18. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Steampunk AU, wherein a young John Watson is discharged from the army, broken and scarred and with nowhere to go. He finds a room with an introverted inventor who mostly keeps to himself, and Watson tries, slowly but surely (and a bit unsuccessfully), to heal his wounds. But in the meantime, he learns that this eccentric, brilliant inventor does more than create gadgets--he also solves crimes.
Um, featuring dirigibles and and mad scientist!Holmes and other nonsense. \o? CLAIMED by alex2006band (artist).

19. Pairing: Watson/Holmes, Watson/Mary, Blackwood/Irene
Summary: Sherlock Holmes is happy with his life. That is until his best friend John Watson starts befriending the enchanting Mary Morstan. The worst part? He's falling under the cliche of not knowing what you have until it's gone. And something is wrong with Irene, she's skipping out on their pre-planned meetings, and Holmes is NOT liking it. And, wtf is Blackwood planning.
Also known as, Holmes is out and proud, Mary is his faghag, and Watson is the "unrequited" love intrest. (HIGHSCHOOL AU) CLAIMED by spaggel (artist).

20. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: A year after the death of his wife and baby during childbirth, Watson is back at Baker Street. He and Holmes struggle to deal with the tension that has always existed between the two of them while at the same time trying to solve a gruesome case involving missing children. As the case becomes more and more twisted Watson finds himself struggling to remain professional as things come to a head between himself and Holmes, and the case affects him more personally than he would have thought possible.
Contains angst, porn, absurd helpings of UST and graphic medical torture. CLAIMED by fallsaddles (fanmix) (is willing to drop claim) and booshbesotted (artist).

***

22. Pairing: ...Idk yet, honestly. IT MAY VERY WELL TURN OUT TO BE GEN, I'm not sure how it'll go yet.
Summary: A crossover, with references/appearances of events and characters from Kaori Yuki's Earl Cain/Godchild and Tobosu Yana's Black Butler. In theory, it will attempt to reconcile the very different ways the Jack the Ripper case played out in the various canons, and how this in turn relates to a larger genuinely supernatural case that has drawn the interest of Queen Victoria's dog and the world's first consulting detective. May contain use of the phrase "the butler did it" used in all seriousness.
Or it may not have some of the elements, but damnit, I am going to use "the butler did it" at some point. CLAIMED by klinche (artist) (willing to drop claim).

***

23. Pairing: Holmes/Watson with some Watson/Mary but...gen-ish?
Summary: Set after the events of the 2009 movie, only Holmes is a vampire. Holmes is approached by a faerie king, which is unusual because the faeries make it very clear that they don't want anything to do with the undead. However, Homes is asked to uncover the identity of whoever is breaking seals to the prison that holds Merlin. It becomes a race against time to not only figure out what the seals are, but to stop the final three being broken, as unleashing a crazy sorcerer with a beef against the monarchy on Britain would be a very, very bad idea. Doubly so when it appears that Mordred is back in town.
Will totally contain vampires, faeries, and zombies. :D CLAIMED by igrab (artist).

***

24. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, gen-ish
Summary: Basically a giant foray into the universe presented in "A Study in Emerald." Told largely in two parts, from the point of view of Watson and that of the narrator of "Emerald" (i.e. Moran). Background on how Holmes and Watson got to know each other and then a hopefully very plotty story that takes places after the events depicted in "Emerald," as Holmes and Watson simultaneously try to take down the Great Old Ones and also get over their debilitating UST, and Moriarty and a very conflicted Moran try to track them down. It is going to be hardcore, sensational Victorian because that is how everything should be. And there will be an excess of green blood. CLAIMED by foxwrapped (artist).

***

25. Pairing: Possibly Holmes/Watson. Definitely Watson/Mary. Probably not a romance, though.
Summary: (Set after the 2009 movie.) When Mr. De la Rue of the Royal Astronomical Society is found dead, the Society finds evidence in his personal notes that he was working on some new device. They recruit Sherlock Holmes to find the device, but it soon becomes clear that De la Rue's new device was not at all astronomical in nature. In fact, Holmes soon becomes convinced that De la Rue was working on something devious for the mysterious Dr. Moriarty.
As Holmes gets deeper and deeper into the mystery, Watson becomes all the more convinced that Holmes has finally driven himself insane. CLAIMED by enkiduts (artist).

***

27. Pairing: Watson/Holmes (with perhaps some twisty Watson/Watson, and Watson/Holmes/Watson... it'll make sense with the summary, I hope)
Summary: In simplest terms - What if Watson were female? However, it's a bit more than that. Dr. Joanna Watson was one of the first women to receive formal training in medicine. (London School of Medicine for Women est. 1874) She found it hard to make a living as a doctor, however, and soon found herself rooming with the mysterious - and equally infamous - Sherlock Holmes in order to save money. An awkward acquaintance is made.
Joanna soon finds herself fascinated with Holmes' consulting business and begins to write about it... as Dr. John Watson. Many revelations occur. How much of the character is the writer, and how much of the writer is the character? Where do the boundaries lay? A study in gender identity, fiction-writing schizophrenia, and the various incarnations of love. CLAIMED by soliandxpyne (artist).

***

28. Pairing: Gen, with Watson/Mary
Summary: Watson gets married, Holmes doesn't deal as well as the end of the movie would have you believe. Also, there is a murder and Watson does his best to keep his nose out of Holmes' business. Of course, he fails spectacularly. CLAIMED by enkiduts (artist).

***

29. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, Holmes/Moriarty
Summary: Tutor James Moriarty is fascinated by his new pupil, Sherlock Holmes. So fascinated, in fact, he'll do anything it takes to stay close to him. Anything.
What the bloody summary means: A young Sherlock Holmes is assigned a Mr. James Moriarty as his tutor at Cambridge. They grow close and begin an affair. For Moriarty, it's true love. For Holmes, it's a pleasant romp and no more. Holmes soon expresses that he's more interested in chasing criminals than chasing Moriarty, and leaves for London. Moriarty begins a desperate string of crimes in order to foster some sort of relationship with Holmes. But when Holmes takes a new flatmate, Moriarty ups the ante, determined to have Holmes for himself at any cost.
I'll be using book canon as opposed to movie canon here, and this little ditty is going to span from pre-Watson (obviously) up through Empty House. (I may or may not include a post-retirement epilogue. We'll see.) I don't want to give away too terribly much, but there will be a quirk or two to the writing style that, if an artist wanted to really get involved, might be fun. As for rating, it'll be an R for sheer creepiness (Moriarty is one crazy mofo), with a definite option for NC-17 ratings of a happier kind. (And then they done the sex. Yayzors.) And I don't know if fanmix people are supposed to be getting involved at this point, but if anybody is interested, we should DEFINITELY talk. CLAIMED by soliandxpyne (artist) and whochick (fanmix).

***

30. Pairing: Watson/Mary, eventual Watson/Holmes
Summary: Amnesia fic. Holmes suddenly develops amnesia (likely as a result of head trauma - he sustained at least two concussions during the course of the movie, so head trauma is probably frequent in his line of work), and Watson knows that there is no treatment, and instead provides general assistance, as his physician, friend, and roommate, while waiting for Holmes to recover on his own.
In the meantime, amnesiac!Holmes, despite not remembering details about his own life and the people around him, still retains his deductive abilities, and thus can continue working as a consulting detective (with no one but Watson and maybe Mrs. Hudson and Mary any the wiser), while also trying to piece together his own life. CLAIMED by sparklyglampire (artist).

***

31. Pairing: past Mary/Watson, Holmes/Watson
Summary: Kidfic; mash of movie and book canon, with a possible lean more towards book if I have time to reread the series. AUs after the events of "Empty House."
When Holmes begins to insinuate that Watson should return to Baker Street with him, he is most unsettled to discover why his doctor is now a widow, particularly when the reason is not illness as he had originally surmised. No, it's a bashful little boy that hides his face in his father's trousers and looks at Holmes as if he hung the moon--a look that is slightly disconcerting when viewed on the face of a child, though he is admittedly used to seeing it on the face of the boy's father.
However, for a time, he feels most in need of Watson's company, and he supposes that he can put up with one small child for a time, until he is more settled into his life in London and has grown tired of a child under his feet. What he does not count on are the feelings for Watson, long buried and thought lost after the union of Watson and his late bride, pushing themselves to the surface once more. CLAIMED by prapim (artist).

***

32. Pairing: Holmes/Watson/Mary/Irene and permutations
Summary: (Based on the 2009 movie). Watson and Mary's marital bliss is interrupted by a zombie apocalypse. They take in Holmes, and eventually Irene. Holmes naturally wants to solve the mystery, but even day to day survival becomes a struggle.
Post-Apocalyptic London. Zombies. Guns and other assorted weapons. The Baker Street Irregulars. Cohabitation. UST. Hurt/Comfort. Mycroft. Humour. Angst. Porn. CLAIMED by justicemischief (artist).

33. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Sherlock Holmes, violin virtuoso and composer, decides to take up the detective-ing business and needs a roommate. John Watson is in need of a room, and can play the piano surprisingly well.
In other words, a self-indulgent classical music AU. CLAIMED by silme711 (artist) and idktbh" (fanmix).

34. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, Irene/Mary, possible OT4, most likely gen-ish
Summary: Steampunk-ish AU/EA Games' Dead Space fusion. Holmes and Watson investigate a series of grizzly and bizarre murders and suicides that appear to be connected to a mysterious and powerful device whose mystery is only exceeded by its power strange artifact on display at a cabinet of curiosities. Hijinks ensue, and soon the duo find themselves having to stop a plague that threatens to consume all of London... if not more.
Airships! Rayguns! Sky pirates! Zombies (sort of, but that's the closest comparison that can be made)! Gratuitous appearances by characters from other fandoms! Action! EXPLODING EXPLOSIONS! CLAIMED by cherith (fanmix).

35. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: A message for help smuggled from prison under an inmate's tongue brings Holmes and Watson to Glasgow, to solve a brutal murder that has led to the imprisonment of notorious scoundrel, Oscar Slater. It's clear that Slater is innocent, but Holmes is faced with many confounding questions in his investigation. Why, when faced with a jewellery collection worth thousands of pounds, did the murderer take only a crescent-shaped diamond brooch? Who are the mysterious Order of Chaeronea, and what on earth do they want with Watson's moustache?
These questions, and many more, will be answered in The Adventure of the Army of Lovers.
Please note: Much as I enjoyed the film, this story is based on book canon, and in my head the main characters are played by Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke. CLAIMED by scatter_muse (artist).

36. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, Watson/Mary
Summary: A year after Watson's marriage, the whole of 221b Baker Street is transported into modern day London. Watson happens to be at 221b when this happens. Initially, Watson is heartbroken and Holmes is enthralled, but how will their emotions change over time? Will they try desperately to find a way back home or will they settle down in the 21st century eventually? And who is that mysterious stranger who always seems to be lurking around their house?
(BY MYSTERIOUS STRANGER I MEAN SCI-FI VILLAIN TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO CONSUME TEMPORAL ENERGY IN SOME KIND OF WEEPING ANGELS STYLE. Bear with me, I haven't really worked this plot point out yet. D:)
Contains: Watson angsting over Mary, the problem of cocaine, Holmes and Watson gradually developing a romantic relationship while trying to find new jobs and discovering the delight of new technologies and modern clothing, plus some sci-fi-esque shenanigans. CLAIMED by booshbesotted (artist).

***

37. Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/Jude Law (yes, you read that correctly), although quite possibly leaning toward being more "gen-ish."
Summary: AU with a hint of realism, oh boy! After a night of being fed alcohol by Robert and Guy during the filming of Sherlock Holmes, Jude wakes up to find himself slightly displaced. In 1891. At Baker Street. Oh, and Sherlock Holmes is there. What the hell ...
The story follows Holmes and Jude as they attempt to discover what has caused Jude to time travel and to a not entirely real world where the great Sherlock Holmes exists. Of course, Jude is disbelieving, Holmes is slightly annoying, and Watson is kind of missing too. There will be evil masterminds, explosions, and quite possibly some sort of epic and newfound bromance that involves the removal of Jude's trousers (trouser removal scenes pending).
It's bound to be slightly cracktastic, a little unreal and unintentionally hilarious, and I am more than okay with that. If this sounds like garbage, trust me, it sounds much better in my skull and I will do my best to convey its awesomeness through text. CLAIMED by johanirae (artist).

38. Pairing: Holmes/lady!Watson
Summary: Basically it is an AU in which Watson is a lady disguising herself as a man in order to escape the prejudices and restrictions placed on women. Her secret was discovered after she was wounded in Afghanistan, but in deference to her displays of heroics, it was decided that she'd be quietly shipped back to England and John Watson would go on record as having received a medical discharge. However, after so many years of living with the freedom of men and more than a little broken from her service, Watson decides she prefers a life incognito and very quickly and quietly establishes herself once more as John Watson.
And then she meets Sherlock Holmes and everything begins to change! :D? CLAIMED by dwg (artist).

39. Pairing: Still in development, but will mostly be a Holmes/Waton genfic (I love asexual Holmes), with some Irene/Mary in the background.
Summary: 2009 Movie Slave!AU, with some book elements thrown in.
Essentially a very alternate retelling of the movie, featuring Dr. John Watson as the former favored 'indentured servant' of Lord Blackwood, now in the possession of Sherlock Holmes after the Lords arrest. The story will cover from Watson's arrival to Baker Street, to Blackwood's death and resurrection, and up until the case is solved. So as to not rewrite the movie plot, there will be a different mystery behind it all, though black magic, Adler, and Moriarty will all remain key players. CLAIMED by ewlyn (artist).

***

40. Pairing: Watson/Holmes, Mary/Watson, and...well, the rest is spoilers.
Summary: Directions-verse!AU. Watson has long been aware that Holmes knows his monthly meetings with old friends are something else entirely. Still Holmes has let Watson keep his secret, just as Watson has made no comment about Holmes' uncanny ability to switch the guise of follower for leader in the wink of an eye and it has all worked out well so far.
But now that Watson is being courted by Mary Morstan - a governess whose mild mannered nature is just enough to make her respectable despite of her political involvement regarding the rights of female leaders - Holmes has taken a surprising interest in Watson's life outside of Baker Street and investigations, insisting that married life wouldn't agree with Watson at all.
Will a gang of surprisingly resourceful jewellery thieves and the near loss of a Baker Street Irregular be enough to distract Holmes from Watson's upcoming engagement? And what do Watson's "friends" have to do with all of this?
Notes: Will most likely be an unholy mix of book and movie characterisation, as I'm rereading the stories with the movie in fresh memory. Rating will possibly be NC-17, but I'm not sure yet - I'll see what fits best with the story. CLAIMED by wheres_walnut (artist).

42. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, very likely also Watson/rent boys
Summary: Still very much in development, but I am responding to a prompt about exploring Holmes' asexuality and his using sex as a tool. So - Watson is in love with Holmes and mounts an attempt at seduction. Holmes, out of affection, accepts Watson's advances, but Watson eventually realizes Holmes doesn't share his passion. Cue angst and a long campaign to find a satisfactory compromise, which includes delving into the gay underworld of Victorian London.
Also there will be some sort of case going on.

44. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, in an abstract, subtext-y kind of way.
Summary: Crossover with Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.' This is a bit difficult to summarize at this point, but here be the bones: Alice is missing, Carroll's imprisoned for it, and Holmes reluctantly agrees to look into the case after being promised that things are more interesting than they seem. His decidedly unroutine investigation leads him into a steampunk-ish London other-world and creates a series of challenges not only for his analytical brilliance, but also for his friendships, his credibility, and his perception of his own reality.

He must stop Moriarty from doing something that will hurt the good ol' British empire, and along the way has some classic 007 adventures: high speed chase, epic international romance, dramatic capture and escape, etc. CLAIMED by lelek (fanmix).

50. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: We all know Watson hides things from the reader, just how big are his secrets? Let's revisit the canon! Bookverse AU.
Watson spent his girlhood and teens in Australia, where he came to understand his gender identity. With a little help from some influential friends he succeeded in getting a place at the University of London and ran away from home. After spending a week or so in a dodgy hotel, he started his life as John Watson and enrolled.
Years later, he's graduated and served in the war without revealing his secret, but when he meets Sherlock Holmes things start to unravel. Firstly, he quickly comes to realise that Holmes is the most perceptive individual Watson has ever met; and to make matters worse, Watson finds himself falling for the antisocial, apparently asexual detective. When Holmes barges into Watson's room to wake him during the events of The Speckled Band , Watson is left bemused and terrified about what, if anything, Holmes knows.
Basically, this fic will revisit some of their early cases (and possibly some of the best later ones) from the perspective of transman Watson reveals all to his diary.
Rating will be R-NC:17
Also, if it's likely to inspire any artists out there, I will spend an excessive amount of time talking about Watson binding himself/being unbound by Holmes a la Shakespeare in Love. ;-) CLAIMED by jellybgood (artist).

51. Pairing: Blackwood/Coward
Summary: A retelling of the movie through Coward's point-of-view, starting briefly before the movie begins with how Lords Blackwood and Coward met. The focus of the story is that Blackwood and Coward are in a relationship through-out, yet Coward sincerely believes that Blackwood's magic is real. CLAIMED by kain_was_here (artist).

52. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Based on a prompt where Watson deals with the spirit of Holmes and tries to figure out why Holmes can't move on into the afterlife. Holmes will continue to be Holmes, even in death, and he'll help Watson solve mysteries and generally get on the poor man's nerves. CLAIMED by lokeloke (artist).

53. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: sherlock holmes can quickly deduce that something sinister is afoot when he wakes up 130 years after he died. watson has been revived as well, although a year earlier than holmes. silences that don't occur naturally to watson make holmes confident that their coming back to life is no innocent gesture. there is mystery in the act itself. however it is easy to ignore the darkness at the fringe of a twenty-first century life when presented with so many luxuries. although he has become a pawn in a larger, fast-paced plot, holmes starts to become distracted by the freedom of this new world. london, 2021 holds different ideas, places, and identities. in a world so foreign, it is almost impossible to deduce what is right, wrong, immortal, worth investigating, or holding onto. CLAIMED by pticha21 (artist).

54. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Holmes and Watson meet before the war, and have a bit of a 'relationship.' Watson is called away to war, and a series of letters are written between the two over the months that Watson is away. Cue post!war Watson, etc. CLAIMED by lelek (fanmix).

55. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Harry Potter-verse crossover. A series of unusual deaths lead Lestrade to ask Holmes for help solving the case, but none of Holmes' theories completely add up. Watson-the-Wizard knows something magical is happening, but since Holmes refuses to acknowledge the existence of magic, Watson has to keep it secret. Cue a run-in with the Aurors from the Ministry of Magic working the case (and/or Grindelwald and/or the Dark Wizard behind the murders, still deciding on this) and Holmes is forced to confront the existence of the illogical and the fact that Watson has managed to hide such a big secret.
The culprit will definitely be looking for/have the Elder Wand and this is a take on how Grindelwald gets the Elder Wand pre-HP canon. I may or may not throw in Ollivander for good measure. Other than those two, characters from the HP canon won't be present because most of them haven't been born yet and JKR hasn't given much information on the time period's wizarding history.
Aiming for a PG-13 rating, but may go up depending on how evil this villain gets. And this plot is shaky at the moment since I still haven't planned out the conclusion or most of the middle bits. CLAIMED by klinche (artist).

56. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Gah. Bear with me. More movieverse than book, but with book canon... Basically, I'm creating an AU where Holmes is actually telepathic (but also has all his awesome detective skills) but in a way that's less cracky than it sounds. Sort of a 19th century London superpowers AU, but without any spandex in sight ;) Holmes and Watson trying to defeat (also!superpowered!)Moriarty, burgeoning UST-y romance, Mycroft, Irene (and hopefully Mary)... you get the picture. Hopefully. CLAIMED by chosenfire28 (artist).

57. Pairing: Mary/Watson, Holmes/Watson
Summary: Something is wrong with Holmes and Watson is determined to find out what the problem is. His obsession with the problem leads to a strain in his relationship with Mary and as becomes ever more distant she eventually leaves him. With his recent divorce, the press constantly at the door, and Holmes' mysterious ilness becoming less mysterious and more impossible, Watson struggles to keep his world together, but how will he manage when the entire universe seems to be against him? CLAIMED by idktbh (artist).

58. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, Watson/Mary
Summary: Note: This has been originally taken from the collaborated plot line of the sherlockkink chatroomers. They wrote their own versions of this, but my plot line morphed into a giant monster, so I decided to do it for Holmes Big Bang.
The original idea, or concept, was that Holmes was in a cage in a dystopian society while Watson, being a doctor, would somehow visit him once in a while and eventually develop a curious relationship with Holmes. The plot is so delicate, however, that I am rather afraid to give anything away at all. But, I promise that you will not be disappointed. CLAIMED by sparklyglampire (artist).

59. Pairing: None
Summary: Pre-movie, slight AU, sort of crossover with The Sentinel. When Holmes' father dies, Holmes brings Watson to his family's country estate where the doctor meets Holmes' family and learns about the amazing and potentially dangerous sensory condition Holmes has inherited from his mother, and discovers that he is one of the only people who can help Holmes control it. And possibly there's a mystery to solve after the funeral. CLAIMED by enkiduts (artist).

60. Pairing: Mary/Watson, Greta Salpeter/Bob Bryar, Greta/Patrick Stump, Gerard Way/Frank Iero, Pete Wentz/Mikey Way, Pete/Patrick, Alicia Simmons/Holmes, Brendon Urie/Ryan Ross, Brendon/Watson, Holmes/Watson
Summary: a bandom/holmes crossover. involves people from Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic! At the Disco (old and new), The Hush Sound, Cobra Starship.
After a very mundane case involving finding the missing letters of Greta Salpeter, the daughter of an American businessman, living in England, Holmes is ready to move on to something new. But when Greta is found dead in her apartment a week later, with strong evidence that she was killed by members of an American gang, and the death of another young woman a few weeks after that, this seemingly mundane case takes an unusual turn.
Holmes decides he must go to America to find out what's going on, and Watson is torn between staying home with his new wife or going with his friend on a new case, even though he'd promised himself he wouldn't. He decides to go with Holmes in their journey to New York, and before they know it they are entangled in a gang war between members of a Chicagoan gang and a gang stationed in New York.
Holmes becomes sexually involved with a member of the New York gang, just as Watson finds himself drawn to a young member of the Chicagoan gang from the South. There are several deaths, including main characters, and a lot of personal as well as political reasons these gangs are fighting. If you aren't involved in bandom at all, you should still be able to understand this. CLAIMED by brilligspoons (fanmix).

61. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, Watson/Mary
Summary: Post-movie-ish. Holmes takes on an interesting, relatively benign case to retrieve a stolen artifact for a client but soon the case deepens and becomes more serious than he ever anticipated. Baker Street is no longer a safe haven; nobody can be trusted, and Holmes must use every one of his skills to save both the case and his own reputation. And then even Watson begins to doubt him... 62. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: Harry Potter crossover (inasmuch as it supposes the existence of the wizarding world). In the course of investigating the 'locked room' murder of a young woman, Holmes discovers that there may be more to his world, and to himself, than meets the eye. Meanwhile, Watson discovers a few things about Holmes as well. CLAIMED by prosodiical (fanmix).

63. Pairing: Watson/Mary and developing Holmes/Watson
Summary: Alternate Universe. It's set in Equilibrium's Libria and acknowledges several of the movie's plot elements, but is not a direct crossover. In other words, John Preston is Sir Not Appearing in This Big Bang, and by the end of this mess I hope to have deviated significantly enough to have my own concrete, standalone plot...while still being recognizable as Equilibrium meets Holmes.
Emotion is dangerous. At the cost of their own happiness, the people embraced Prozium, a world-saving drug designed to suppress the root of all the world's problems: feeling.
The Grammaton Cleric is a juggernaut of peace-keeping, trained to eliminate the resisting “sense offenders” and destroy all remaining aspects of culture that might tempt humans into feeling again. Sherlock Holmes, praised for his unorthodox spontaneity and lighting-fast thinking, is one of the most dangerous and efficient Clerics around. But when his roommate is accused of sense offense, the train comes off its rails, and Holmes finds his world less linear, his actions less commendable, and his Prozium less and less appealing.
Likely to feature: Emotionally/socially awkward Holmes, me geeking out over dystopian fiction, bizarre amalgamations of and references to canon, illegal puppy Gladstone, and Irene Adler shooting up a crowded room. CLAIMED by dwg (fanmix).

64. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: AU. John Watson is the editor in chief for the school newspaper. He's tired of covering the same boring stuff- the cheerleading tryouts, the stupid fucking glee club. He's a serious writer. And although he never gets tired of interview the beautiful Mary for those topics, he needs a change.
And if his mom harps on about his moustache one more time? He's going to scream. And it won't be pretty.
So when the school history ward almost blows up, thanks to one Sherlock "Don't Ever Speak My First Name" Holmes, and Holmes is sentence to a semester of detention, things begin to get all 32 flavours of interesting. Because Holmes' punishment?
Practice, every day, with the football team. Holmes, the chemistry geek, is screwed.
And John, though fucking tired of covering the jock stories, is suddenly excited to cover the new member of the football team. Who really isn't part of the football team, but a little pretending could never hurt, right?
... Right? CLAIMED by reallycorking (artist) and tailoredshirt (fanmix).

65. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, initial Watson/Mary
Summary: Modern-day AU. Sherlock Holmes is a talented boxer who's just got a new cutman, one John Watson. A professional relationship turns into a friendship and perhaps more... but Watson would be engaged (if he could find the right ring, that is), and not only that, but as Holmes discovers, Watson has been sabotaging his game under the direction of the infamous James Moriarty. Can their relationship be restored in light of Watson's betrayal, and can Moriarty be stopped? CLAIMED by ragettizepirate (artist).

66. Pairing: Gen mostly, with undertones of Holmes/Watson and Newbury/Hobbes. Possible Watson/Hobbes, depending where the story takes things.
Summary: Crossover with the Newbury and Hobbes Investigation series by George Mann. A string of mutilation murders have Scotland Yard's finest completely confounded, meanwhile Holmes and Watson are investigating the mysterious disappearance of a high profile scientist and the daring agents of the crown are caught up in a series of airship hijackings. When the threads of each case start to overlap the mystery soon deepens, and Holmes finds hiself having to rely more than just Watson and his own intellect to solve things. Meanwhile, the revnant plague is spreading out of London's slums, making things infinitely more complicated.
Or, in short, a steampunk adventure with murder, magic, mystery and zombies. CLAIMED by cherith (fanmix).

67. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: In a massively tentative sort of way (well done good works, decisiveness), I'm thinking about a The Road style fic with a (possible) Harry Potter crossover. I may have gone a bit mad, I don't even know. It should look something like this: the end of the world has been and gone, and Holmes and Watson are trying to get to the coast. Holmes didn't predict it; Watson can't predict Holmes anymore. Their journey to the coast keeps intersecting with Harry et al., trying to keep the wizarding world together. OH GOD, this serves to show how little I have thought this out yet. It will all come together when I skew my fic : degree ratio a bit in the less educationally responsible way. FNARR, apologies for excessive vagueness. CLAIMED by tortugax (fanmix).

73. Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Summary: The modest office of 221B Baker Street holds men with two of the most extraordinary gifts of all of England - one with a natural ability to read the Alethiometer, the other bearing the sharpest thing in the universe: The Subtle Knife. And yet, they rarely rely on these gifts, instead choosing their own intellect above all else. But they may be forced to rely on these gifts when daemons are being barbarically intercised all across London, their humans butchered in body and soul, and grave murmurs collecting in the city's crime underworld...except for one problem: one of their gifts has been stolen. 75. Pairing: Holmes/Watson, Watson/OC
Summary: With their relationship shaky because of Holmes' attempts to sabotage Watson and Mary's marriage, the good doctor jumps at the chance to attend to a patient outside London without Holmes. Caught up in a vicious attack on his employer, Watson is knocked into the river and left for dead, only to be found sans memory - no name, no profession, no companions. On discovering Watson's disappearance, Holmes becomes obsessed with finding his partner, to the detriment of his health, London's crime rates, and Mrs Hudson's patience. After months of searching he finally succeeds in finding Watson, only to find that his friend not only has no memory of his previous life, but is also happy with the new life he's made for himself. A life with a suspiciously close friendship with the local lord. Attempting to cope with the loss of everything Watson, and deal with a man who is essentially a stranger to him now, Holmes finds himself growing more and more intrigued by this 'Joseph Bell'...and Joseph seems equally taken by Holmes. Will Watson recover his memory? Will Mary be reunited with her husband? Or will Holmes enjoy a friendship with 'Watson' without the hurt between them? Ooh, the drama! 76. Pairing: Holmes/Watson and Watson/Mary
Summary: A remix of the Last Case, with a combination of movie and book canon, in which Holmes takes down Moran in London and not Moriarty - still faking his own death - within months of Watson and Mary’s marriage. Watson deals badly with his grief, starts poking around in the case as a coping device and accidentally gets caught in Holmes’ web. Everything becomes tangled and things spiral out of control, with emotional blackmail and manipulation; Mary playing a key supportive role in both the story and Watson's life; dealing with Victorian and modern concepts of masculinity and fidelity and love. … And hopefully enough action to balance out the wangsty emotions.
CLAIMED by soliandxpyne (fanmix).

77. Pairing: Blackwood/Coward
Summary: With the Blackwood affair over, Holmes feels content; Watson and Holmes are friends once more, Irene has been unleashed, London is safe, Coward is in jail, and Blackwood is dead.
And then Lord Coward vanishes from his cell.
As the search progresses, Holmes starts to realize that he may have misjudged the situation, in more ways than one, and that nothing is really as it seems.
