It looks like LJ may not be notifying people when entries are posted and their user name is tagged? In the past, LJ usually notifies a user when a post goes up with their user name in it - I don't think that happened unless you were specifically tracking the community for all posts. If you were counting on LJ to notify you when a gift was posted

Yeah.. I am tracking the comm, so LJ notified me of the new post, but NOT about the mentioning my name, even though THAT should work no matter what / whether I am following the person mentioning me or not...

Come to think of it ... I've been checking the comm regularly because I do that, so I think I've seen all the work notifications, but I haven't got any notifications in my email, and I do track the comm.

I also wonder whether, since we have a number of new participants, they aren't familiar with the -- local customs, I guess? -- and didn't think to take a look at posted works other than their own gifts.

Hey, Mods! I didn't have the notification turned on for comm posts, but I usually get an email anyway when my username is mentioned somewhere. I should've checked the comm regularly, I guess. Got your e-mail, though.Thanks for the reminder!
