Heal my Borg Computer

Jun 06, 2007 19:47

I'm currently listening to the new Tilly and the Wall, and I have rambleman and skyape-radio to thank for that.

Anyway, the job search continues, WisCon was glorious, (by the way apologies to dotar_sojat and coolmajaka for not replying to the previous post or even seeing you there. I have a really bad habit of going straight to my friends page and never looking at my actual LJ. I should ( Read more... )

I actually do have a CRT monitor that needs a new home... I don't have the specs on it right now, and I've no idea what it would cost to ship to Chicago... but I'm willing to figure it out.

Oo! Rock on! That could potentially help enormously.

I have no computer knowledge whatsoever, so I'm willing to say sure thing and call it a day. But I should probably ask my brother first, so whenever you get the specs (if you can) I'll email it to him and get an opinion. If it's cool, let's call it a done deal.

Cool! This was much easier than anticapted. Thanks.

No problem. Let me check on it tomorrow -- I should be able to ship it fairly easily via UPS or FedEx through work. I'll have to square all that w/my boss, etc. So... more details as I have them. Hopefully, it all works out.

I still think Tilly and the Wall sounds too Polyphonic Spree.

You're just posting that cause you're behind me.

I'm going to hide while Graham critiques you.

HA!
The only Polyphonic Spree I've heard is their cover of Nirvana's Lithium so I can't really respond properly to these allegations.
I do concede that Tilly are on the saccharine/twee side and may not be for all tastes. The tap dancing shtick is something that seemed goofy at first but totally won me over in the end. It's weird but it works. And seeing them live a few months ago totally cemented them a high-ranking position in my Best Bands Ever list.

Polyphonic... Lithium... Brain... Melting...

I think it's the tapdancing for me as well.

Jess totally just googled that Polyphonic Spree cover. It has sock puppets.

you should check craigslist for monitors. in the modern day of flat panels, people are selling off cheap or outright giving away their old monitors. seriously, if you pay more than $15 for a 15" CRT, you're getting robbed. i had an extra, but just recently gave it to gB for Annah's use.

Good advice. That'll be the second tactic if raanve's gift doesn't work out.

Heh, I wasn't actually there (though I sure wish I was). I just wanted to say howdy! and friend up another Liquid Laughter TOC-mate.

Oh, and the photo was from World Fantasy Convention from last November, but I stand by my assertion that hanging with Mikal and MK is wild good times!
