In the headcanon that ate all other headcanons, Albert's motives stem from his connection to Yuber, not the other way around. I've concoted that the Silverberg line has a contractual obligation to pay a debt of lives to the Demon for services rendered to Julian Silverberg.
Albert's paradigm is said to be like Leon's--end the war/contract/suffering as QUICKLY as possible, not necessarily as humanely, and preserve the life of the strategist above all else. Thus, Albert's modus operandi, to play both and neither side of the field and thus claim all lives taken as his own, displays a desire to pay the family debt to Yuber with added haste, by showing the Silverbergs to come exactly HOW to take a massive chunk out of a debt of souls.
I believe he is working for the Island Nations, or did before SV came out, and thus it stuck. In the end, it is more likely that Falena, else perhaps Nakula or Armes, is canon.
Helping out the Destroyers would prove two things to Falena: that Albert was not afraid of being labeled as an enemy of Harmonia (which the Destroyers clearly were) and that Albert was a competent strategist. Granted, the only clear plans I can recall Albert doing were arranging the assassination of Zepon and framing the Zexens of burning the Karaya Village, but he pretty much triggered the entire war with the other Destroyers' help.
Oh, and Albert also helped keep the whole continent from blowing up, but that's kinda moot since he helped make Luc a living threat to the entire continent in the first place.

Anyway, I know we already discussed this theory, but meh. I have a question! :D How does helping the Destroyers gain him Falena's trust, exactly?
