"I know just the place."

In some crazy, twisted way, there had to be humour in this.  Somewhere, deep down, the Doctor was sure of it, there had to be someone who would find this all sort of hilarious.  The sheer irony of it all, that Koschei was going to travel with the Doctor centuries before he would all but beg to go, and the Doctor was going to travel with Koschei ( Read more... )

Despite the years the Doctor has on Koschei, and the fact that he's clearly leading, Koschei easily matches his pace, striding beside him, the faintest hint of a grin hanging around his mouth. He knows this, knows this well- adventures with Theta. Only this time... well, they're possibly not illegal, which is something new for the two of them. Though, wait, nix that, the confusion of time streams probably does make this illegal, at least according to the high laws of the Time Lords. Ah well! Nothing to be done. And neither of them, after all, had ever been ones to let rules constrain what they could or could not do.

He gives the Doctor's TARDIS a rather dubious little look as they approach and he unlocks it, gesturing Koschei in.

'A police call box?' He asks over his shoulder. 'What the hell is a police call box supposed to be?'

The inside of the ship is hardly a surprise. In fact, it looks more like Theta's side of their room than anything else. Full of stuff, with what he's sure is an unnecessary amount of buttons and ( ... )

"Its a box," the Doctor replies as he steps in after Koschei, closing the door with a soft click behind him, "that you use to call the police. Honestly Koschei, I figured you would have been able to work that one out yourself."

He makes his way over to the console and begins fiddling with a few knobs and switches. "They have them on Earth. Had. ...Will have. Depending on your frame of reference."

The Doctor looks back over to Koschei. "You can sit down, if you'd like," he says, motioning towards the large armchair that is oh so conveniently located next to that rather large stack of books that need to be re-shelved.

'Thanks.' He rolls his eyes, and doesn't take the Doctor's invitation to sit. Instead, he joins him at the console, sliding over to the opposite side and narrowing his eyes at the panel before him, tapping his fingers over controls and monitors. It all looks nice enough, wooden panelling and brass and whatever other nonsense, but to his eye, half of it's cobbled together, and complete nonsense.

He looks around the time rotor at the Doctor. 'And how much of this is original? It looks like you've put it together with a welding torch, sellotape*, and an unhealthy amount of faith.' And if he sounds rather wry, well- he's perfectly confident in your abilities to fly the thing, Doctor, he's merely sure that he could easily do a better job.

*Because yes, the Time Lords have sellotape. Apparently.

The Doctor frowns and gives Koschei a That-Wasn't-A-Very-Nice-Thing-To-Say look. "There's nothing wrong with my TARDIS." Apart from the things that were wrong with it, of course. But no need in going into all of that when all Koschei was referencing was the console.

"When you've had something as long as I've had this TARDIS," he goes back to his button pressing, "you're bound to need to replace a few parts here and there." He may, for just a split second, very lovingly almost pet the console. It only lasts a short moment however, and he's right back to pulling levers and turning dials.
