In some crazy, twisted way, there had to be humour in this. Somewhere, deep down, the Doctor was sure of it, there had to be someone who would find this all sort of hilarious. The sheer irony of it all, that Koschei was going to travel with the Doctor centuries before he would all but beg to go, and the Doctor was going to travel with Koschei

He gives the Doctor's TARDIS a rather dubious little look as they approach and he unlocks it, gesturing Koschei in.
'A police call box?' He asks over his shoulder. 'What the hell is a police call box supposed to be?'
The inside of the ship is hardly a surprise. In fact, it looks more like Theta's side of their room than anything else. Full of stuff, with what he's sure is an unnecessary amount of buttons and ( ... )

He makes his way over to the console and begins fiddling with a few knobs and switches. "They have them on Earth. Had. ...Will have. Depending on your frame of reference."
The Doctor looks back over to Koschei. "You can sit down, if you'd like," he says, motioning towards the large armchair that is oh so conveniently located next to that rather large stack of books that need to be re-shelved.

He looks around the time rotor at the Doctor. 'And how much of this is original? It looks like you've put it together with a welding torch, sellotape*, and an unhealthy amount of faith.' And if he sounds rather wry, well- he's perfectly confident in your abilities to fly the thing, Doctor, he's merely sure that he could easily do a better job.
*Because yes, the Time Lords have sellotape. Apparently.

"When you've had something as long as I've had this TARDIS," he goes back to his button pressing, "you're bound to need to replace a few parts here and there." He may, for just a split second, very lovingly almost pet the console. It only lasts a short moment however, and he's right back to pulling levers and turning dials.
