Dear Panic(!) At the Disco: Radiohead is still in existence. Radiohead is a far superior band. Radiohead is everything you wish you could be, but is impossible for you to achieve, because you're a bunch of worthless shitheads who will never compare to the genius that is Radiohead. Suck my dick, Daisy
I'm not entirely confident that it won't suck ass, just because that happens sometimes and I don't like getting my hopes up too much, but that's not to say I'm not TOTALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT, A LOT.
I lil conversation between record label and crappy band.the_heapOctober 20 2006, 05:11:59 UTC
Wow, if they wanna do that they are gonna need a whole lot of talent.
"Guys, I've come to talk to you about this statement." "Yeah, I really we can become the next Radiohead." "Fuck no. Guys do you even know who Radiohead is?" "No...but people seem to really like them." "Do guys even think you have talent?" "We can put on eye makeup!" "SO CAN MONKEYS! YOU DON'T SEE THEM SAYING WE WANNA BE ONE OF THE MOVST FAMOUS BANDS OF ALL TIME! ALL THEY SAY IS 'OOH OOH!'" "Do you think we can do it?" "Only if you kill everyone in existance, or whipe everyones memory and make them forget about radiohead and that stupid coment you made. So no."
Things I've Learned: The NME is bullshit and should not be trusted. This actually goes for most of the British music press. Except MOJO. MOJO is amazing. Then again, without the exposure offered them by such publications, bands like the Pixies would not have become nearly as popular. And you can argue about bands getting famous all you want, but in the case of the Pixies, I'd say their popularity did more good than evil. So once in awhile they're right on the mark, but in the meantime, the NME sorts through countless cover pages of "Next Big Thing" pap. And, y'know, that's their job. It's just best to take it with a grain of salt, because like any magazine trying to sell, they make their pullquotes as inflammatory as possible.
Yeah, that was more than a little pretentious and irrelevant and unnecessary. Sorry. Um, Panic At The Disco! is lame. But we all knew that already.
Ehh, I believe they said the emo thing. Nobody ever wants to be labeled anything, especially if they're being put so vehemently into such a polarizing category. Fair enough. Seeing as how they've come to represent exactly the thing that everyone seems to define as emo, I think it's pretty futile at this point, but fair enough. I was mostly talking about the Radiohead thing, I guess, so really we're in agreement.
