Oh sorry about that Rita.

We are planning to set up a baseball game here. Did you want to play?

A game? Depends, I guess. How's it work?

It's a game with 2 teams, each with 9 players. The goal of the game is to get the most runs pretty much.

Runs? What's that supposed to mean?

What happens is one team is pitching while the other bats. Imagine a diamond shape with the pitcher standing in the middle and the batter at the bottom. One run is when the batter hits the ball, and goes to the corner at the right. This keeps happening until they get back to where they were batting in the first place

Let me know if I'm going to fast or if you have any questions

Humph. Don't underestimate me. I can visualize it just fine.

Kinda, anyway. I've never heard of anyone using the word 'pitch' and 'bat' in this context before. It's kinda weird. What's it mean?

Sorry I underestimated you. [smiles]

Well, to pitch is pretty much the same as throwing a ball only at incredible speeds. To bat is to hit the ball with a baseball bat.

It's the job of the team that is pitching to stop them team that is batting from making runs. They do this by catching the ball that has been hit and trying to touch them with it before they get to the corners. That makes them out. Another way is to catch the ball while it hasn't hit the ground Once the team up to bat gets so many outs then they switch positions.

And that's the basics of it.

You got a death wish?

... It just sounds like you guys are making this to be way more complex than it should be. If the point of the game is to stop the other team from reaching the corners, then why don't you just get someone to stand at each corner, and punch 'em out? Problem solved.

... though, I'm going to have to guess that there's some kind of inane rule against, that, huh.

Mind if I just watch?

[laughs] Well, I guess it is pretty complex. It's just so much easier to watch a game in order to understand it.

Yeah, no problem. You might like it.

W-well it's not like I don't get it! It's just that it seems pointless. That's all.

[Or more like, she's never socialized before, let alone play games. Expect denial.]

... Doubt it. But what makes you say that?

I know.

[smiles, why so tsundere Rita-chan~?]

It's what most people love about baseball. You just watch it and you just get pumped up and excited about for no reason sometimes.

You'd better.

[Shivers. Down her spine. So cold.]

[Denialdenialdenial.]

... W-well I don't like things for no reason, okay? If I like something, then there'd better be a good reason for it. And it sure as hell'll be reasonable!

[laughs a little look at that smile] I get it. Would you come watch it for a bit then?

[Eeeeeeee. Cue tomato.]

... FINE.

This better be worth my time. When and where is it?

Thanks.

Well, since we are still trying to get more people, we haven't decided on a place and time quite yet. I promise to let you know when I find out though.
