Karkat/John, time travel, jealousy, voyeurism anonymous September 4 2011, 10:32:37 UTC

Six sweeps old Karkat is frustrated with just being palhonchos with John, but can't seem to find a way to move beyond that relationship.

Through wacky space-time hijinks, he ends up in a future with 30 y.o John and similarly aged himself, and they are matesprits. And little Karkat cannot believe that John grows up into this rather sensible seeming stupidly handsome guy, or that his future self is so calm seeming too. Also tall. And grown up. Karkat may actually hate this future Karkat more then any others.
And how dare they be so perfect together, when all he and his John do is argue over romcoms.

So, for science, and totally not because the idea gets him hot, why would you suggest that, present Karkat sneakily observes his future self and future John mating. So he can figure out what he is doing wrong with his John!

Dead of hot, of adorable, of romantic, of everything.

Just - seeing how they will be, and seeing how they are, and seeing how the two Karkats see their past/future selves, is amazing on all those different levels.

Plus, Dave's remark on which Dave he is temporally, is a fucking work of glory. It echoes the time shenanigans of the rest of the piece, and drives home the level of commitment in the Karkat/John relationship at the same time as it expresses Dave's support of that commitment.

Also I ♦ the way you did the xenobiology and the attitudes towards the non-use of buckets.

oh man. That was really nice and lovely and so hot unfff. I really like how Future Karkat and John interact, both before and during sex. Also, adorable! So adorable.

...I kiiinda want to see the fic where Present Karkat decides to stop being such an ass to Present John, John's reaction, and Karkat trying to model their relationship on everything he learned from the trip to the future. c:

I liked this fill a whole lot but my absolute favourite thing was how solidly this was set in present Karkat's viewpoint. All the way through he's grumbling at life's unfairness or puzzling out some intricacy of human culture or full of doubts and awkwardness about sex. It's wonderful.

If the asteroid that they're currently inhabiting were operating by Earth rules, it would be sometime in the evening that Karkat shuffles up to his door. John shifts in his chair where he's been sitting and staring up at the ceiling, fingers drumming absently against his thigh.

He's so tired of going through this.

It's bad enough that he's feeling…affectionate toward Karkat. (John won't let himself call it anything else.) But what's worse is that Karkat doesn't seem to feel the same way. He feels something, but the troll is so eager to push John into one of his quadrants - one of four, even - that John can't bring himself to have any real discussion about it ( ... )
