Oh, I love, love, love, love this! The "slurry of fatigue and fear" and the "characteristic eye rub" and the way Simon both realizes so much and at the same time misunderstands so many things. And Mal, of course, is perfect. We know he's tough enough to defy the odds and survive, and yet his toughness is something that never should have had to happen... *snif*
